This is a 100% flawless guitar. I have the second model that came on the market (the one WITHOUT that wretched Floyd Rose...!) and it is definitely one of my best guitars - but of course you have to like EMG's in that respect... I've met Lukather a few times, he really is my favorite guitarist overall, I love him absolutely. I noticed that Luke has very small hands. I have big hands and you can tell that the guitar is tailor-made for him, for his hands.

great guitar Mr GL, I do believe on that particular model, Ernie Ball used their own patented HT pickups. A very active hi-out put pick-up as opposed to the L3 which runs to the passive DiMarzio’s… …as a huge fan of SL 80’s & 90’s sounds playing the VA “robot” and others, I much prefer this sound over the L3. Looks like you were enjoying it… which is nice. cheers

Indeed I was! That one in particular is very beautiful

Just a slight correction; the pickups are in fact passive! HT stands for heat treated, which is their own process involving thermal treatment on the pickup's pole pieces. I can't claim to understand the science of it, but the high output pickup crowd seem to love the definition the offer. Cheers!

I completely agree with you. I really liked his sound on the Toto IV more than anything else. At that time, I often saw Toto live, it was always a spectacle. When the time came with the Bradshaw Rig, I didn't like Luke's sound quite as much, there were too many effects for me, the whole thing was too washed out. But it was still Luke who played his ass off every time. He is worth every money. And hey, those were the days - everyone overdid it, including Luke. But the beautiful Valley Arts guitars he played at that time were really awesome! I was able to buy a Valley Arts Sunburst Custom Pro many years later - and that would certainly be the last guitar I would give away...and only if I had to...wait: no, not even then... 🙂

My Luke II is by far the best guitar I own.

How are the pickups compared to the active Luke II model?

Great guitar, but a ridiculous amount of money for a bedroom guitarist..
@guitarlounge2 ай бұрын
They are indeed pricey. Interesting subject though, just because you play in a bedroom doesn’t mean you can’t spend money on your passion!
@tomatengarage5608Ай бұрын
@@guitarlounge That's right, quite a lot of money. But you can also look at it this way. You pay the money once. And for the rest of your life you have a guitar that gives you pleasure every day. From that point of view, it's not soooo expensive, right...? I bought the second model of the Musicman Luke over 20 years ago. To this day, I'm really happy every time I pick it up. And I'm not a professional either, I just love music and play when I can find the time. It certainly wasn't worth buying the guitar financially, but it was definitely worth it emotionally. And I would do it again at any time...

Those are definitely locking tuners dude

You're right! Just before doing this video I was playing the L3 which does have locking tuners. These are not, which of course makes sense :)
@tomatengarage5608Ай бұрын
@@eddomingo4002 I'm confused, the Specs say it's "Schaller M6-IND"-Tuners - which are Locking Tuners.
