He was inspired by that song when he was searching his new sound for his new album, so definitely we should thank MJ for making Queen release AOBTD as a single but we should also thank Queen for influencing Micheal's Thriller album. :)

I kinda feel sorry for fellow MJ fans who see HIStory as a lesser album. Growing up in the 90s - HIStory inspired my love for the world, life and humanity. It encouraged me, as a child, to see how magical simple things in life are, and how far we can get by not letting hate win and by banding together. HIStory may not be his highest achievement in terms of musical originality or composition as an artist... but it was absolutely his highest achievement in humanity as an artist and anyone has yet to parallel it. Say what you will about Heal The World, Earth Song, Stranger in Moscow - they raised a generation of travelers, idealists and activists.

It's an absolute joke how Sony treated Michael and it's a joke that they essentially got away with it. The smear campaign against Jackson was just unbelievable and never really had a solid foundation, did the man act strange? Yes but he was also fucking any woman who would look his way! The line about the parents of the child that he supposedly "touched" is spot on. I had the same debates with people, if the parents were willing to accept money then what does that say about what they think of their child? And if they wanted to they could take everything from him, destroy his career, keep him behind bars and get more money than what he was paying. They were fucking scum of the earth.

I also forgot to mention that the Chandler family in 1993 *deliberately* chose to subpoena Michael Jackson while he was on a break from his world tour for Dangerous. He had only completed one leg, and was resting up for the second. They knew that, by serving him in the middle of the tour, he would immediately have to make a choice: Fight, and lose millions proving your innocence, with full knowledge that they're going to parade photographs of your genitals around a courtroom to humiliate you, knowing they can't win, but they can embarrass and degrade you all the same? Or settle out of court, knowing you'll make the $25 million back in 5 nights on tour? The decision to settle - while still *profoundly* stupid - begins to make a little more sense, at that point.

They did have a couple before MJ (the Pointer Sisters was one), but yes, MTV refused to generally cover artists of African descent because they said 'We Cover Rock Music', as if Bo Diddley or Siser Rosetta Tharpe never existed. Rick James (who had rock elements in his music) was one of the biggest protesters of MTV's racism, before CBS 'allegedly' threatened the company with pulling their artists if they didn't put MJ in the rotation. And the rest is history. It was so bad that David Bowie had to call them out.

Well researched and well said. I remember those those trials and allegations against Michael as a kid in middle school. There were a ton of kids with "opinions" that basically amounted to circumstances and rather strange arguments.(One girl talked about the Peter Pan thing) I made maybe one joke as a kid, but my mom took it as a personal attack and got really defensive about it. I never really said anything about it after that. Thing is, the whole time I knew something was off about the whole thing. I just couldn't put it to words, but I never truly believed that he did any of that stuff. I mean, I never laughed at any MJ pedo jokes...ever. Heck, I didn't even laugh at my own joke when I made it that one time as a kid. I grew up, and as I grew up I followed gaming. As I followed gaming, I started noticing trends. Those trends more often than not stemmed from one thing. Money. I Started. To Learn. To Follow. The Money. Once I started following the money, a lot more things started to make more sense. Those families lied to get a pay out. Sony made calculated efforts to take down MJ for a paycheck.(Hilarious that it would be less than what they WOULD have made if they supported him properly) Thanks for the video Razorfist and god fucking speed.

A little story: a Portuguese journalist and author did a mystery children's/young-people's book series in the late 1980s-1990s, when looking for ideas for stories that "the kids" would like he decided to put them checking a pop concert ("What's pop star is popular with the kids? Idk, Michael Jackson!"), so there's this "Famous Five" or "Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew" style book about youngun detectives who save Michael Jackson from kidnapper (it is called what translates as "Run, Michael, Run!"). Onwards to the "noughts", a TV series of those books was made, and since the production team had some TV and abroad export links they got the hold of MJ's agent and approached MJ if he wanted to star as himself. Jackson always wanting to spread out to acting and not being shy of playing with his own image (he played himself as AN ALIEN in MIB2!) he said yes and was all excited but then started inquiring more in detail on the show, and when he was full aware it was a younger audience show he refused along the lines of "Are you crazy, you want to put me in a KIDS SHOW after all the problems I've been having?!" In the end they made up a FEMALE singer for the episode and made the loverboy of the teen trio have a crush on her and the book plot was mostly kept. You want to tell me, a guy this careful about being around even young adults playing teens and the image it would give, would get himself into trouble so silly and extremely as most absurd abuse stories say? Also, just warning that for a recent video of my own on Lisa Marie Presley I used very short clips from this "Music Mythos" with full credit given to you on screen during them, on the final credit and in the video description (unlike some people fully stealing Music Mythos format shamelessly with no credit. -cough, cough- BangerTV!, hmmm, sorry on that, get pretty allergic in the Spring), and hope you don't mind the miniscule percentage of the video using your basic review on "Dangerous" and your official statements on Lisa Marie Presley circa 1995. Anyhow, I don't share most of your views but I enjoy your more cultural/historical work, stay healthy and carry on.

I really enjoyed this video. I was surprised that you felt the way about Bad that you did especially since so many people really love it and it had 5 number one singles. Not to mention that the Bad tour was phenomenally successful. Just like you, Dangerous is my favorite album of MJ's for the very same reasons you note. Thank you also for giving substance to why Invincible was ahead of its time....Dubstep is the answer. It is a unique album that deserves some "love" and thanks for giving it some.It is one of the most successful albums of the '00's with 13 million sold but is rarely mentioned. Critics really suck and thanks for pointing that out too. They are just soooooo shallow when reviewing Michael Jackson's music. Sadly there were too caught up with the drama and didn't focus properly on the music. There is one though that is worth going back and investigating and his name is Armond White. He really got Jackson and his music.

Awesome as ever! Yes, undoubtedly he stamped his name and music on History. There was no question that he was NOT a paedophile, but a lot of people can be very gullible at times. It was always to do with money, making money from him. It is so sad to know that a person who gave so much to help children with very severe problems (many of which were terminally ill); tried to champion their rights and was quite outspoken about the environment; was falsely charged with one of the most heinous crimes somebody can commit. As for the video: Concise, entertaining and informative as ever. Damn, you really present well! Despite thinking that you may well have at the very least a written list of prompts; your delivery is engaging and strong. It would be great to see you in other forms of media outside KZbin should the opportunity present itself. Then again, looking at the state of journalism in general, it might be hard to find a vehicle that would be suitable. However that hasn't stopped Jon Stewart! As for Sony, well, yes you are right to point those things out. However, we are talking about a large multinational and I would not want to tar everyone in that organization with the same brush. Corruption can occur in any organization, even when the majority of the individuals within it would never even contemplate such a thing. It will be interesting to see who you choose for the next video in the series (an idea for one may well be Prince?!).
