At that time, Taeyeon was considered the new generation "Queen OST" after Baek JiYoung. And even though Taeyeon debuted as a solo singer 7 years later, her voice still hasn't changed.

Taeyeon can perform nearly any kind of song with excellence. I'm soon to be retiring (nearly 40 years in business) acoustic guitarmaker and I think that Taeyeon is similar to a (imaginary) perfect guitar that can do it all with outstanding tonal quality. Small but in perfect balance. No weak points. Exctremely rare. You'll notice that when you have heard her long enough. She's also a very smart singer who takes care of her voice. You can hear how she has changed her singing style from early SNSD time to more healthier direction nowadays. Sacrificed some power but gained agility and more stamina for long performances. You can see how musicians respect her in different situations, she's a top professional despite her relatively young age. I personally like straight, long and clean notes and doing the music, not showing off. Taeyeon is just like that.

just for context: she is known in korea as ''the OST queen'' because her OSTs are very successful in the country, even before she debuted as a soloist. So in 2008 her first OST, IF was a national hit, it even overshadowed the music of the group she was part of in the charts. Her songs are more singing-oriented, yes she has some upbeat songs but the majority of her discography is more ballads with big notes or chill songs. so it's not common for her songs to sound like ''kpop song'' because it's not something she likes, her influences are korean ballad singers, like K.will.

Her mini albums is where she can show off her versatility and it’s where she experiments the most with her sound and style. Her main albums however, are very much targeted towards the general population with a more familiar Kpop feel and sound to it and it’s why they do especially well with music charts (she herself charts very well). But basically, if she releases a full studio album, then she will most likely release a mini one after it.

The song Happy has a bit of an interesting story to it. The short version is the release was going to be on her birthday as a special release kind of thing, but it ended up being delayed cuz the day it was going to be released(her birthday) her father had unfortunately passed away. So, there’s a bit of a different feeling to the song with that knowledge

Its all her own songs, FYI, Taeyeon is still a member of Girls Generation, there were 9 members of Girls Generation from debut 2007 to 2014, September 2014 one of the members left Girls Generation and company (SM Ent). In October 2017, 3 members left company (SM Ent) but were still in Girls Generation. In August 2023, 1 member left the company but is still a member of Girls Generation. Now there are 4 people left in SM Ent, but 8 in Girls Generation. and Taeyeon made their debut in 2015 through 'I', which at that time was very successful. cmiiw :) I have a music video recommendation for those of you who are new to Taeyeon, can start from I, Rain, Why, Starlight, 11:11, Fine, I Got a Love, Something New, This Christmas, Four Seasons, VOICE (Japanese), Spark, Happy, What Do I Call You, Weekend, Can't control my self. INVU and To. X is his latest release. Apart from that, you should also listen to the b-sides from the album too and the ost song is also good. The public has given the tag "trust and listen to Taeyeon", they don't call it that without reason. You have to check all hers discography heheh
