There is an interview with Korn Members during this Festival and the interviewer asks them why they were all wet: they answered that it was because they wanted to see Babymetal perform, and it was worth it :D

I'm glad you found Mr. BOH. He's a very unique nice guy. He is also very knowledgeable about making ramen, and is sometimes teased by fans that he is a ramen shop with good bass.

I think since they did The First Take Su is finally getting the credit she deserves with her vocal talent.
@paulbenwell3560 Жыл бұрын
One another re Su's voice. They just did The First Take - a japanese music channel that gives you the FIRST TAKE ONLY to record a song - live and cut down. I am not kidding when I say it has blown up - 1.7 Million views in 4 days! Su's vocals are utterly perfect. It is a piano version of one of their new tracks Monochrome. This vid was 2016 - she has 7 years so vocal development and to say you can hear the difference is an understatement. The First Take she holds the note then instead of fading it she increases the power of it towards the end in one sustained breathe.

The bassist BOH is the 4th dancer for BABYMETAL. 10:15 "I think it sounds better sometimes when she is like live than compared to like the studio..." It does. One reason is effects put over her voice in studio versions. In my opinion those effects reduce overall quality. RE: live vs MV Two BABYMETAL MVs tell the story of the song better than any live version: Karate and Headbanger.

It allways amazes me how Su can sing so good at life shows WHILE doing choreo herself, I really think she is one of the best singers in the World. I can understand her singing clearer live than some Singers that I actually understand the language of lol

This is my go to vid to show my friends Babymetal. The girls, the kamiband, the crowd interaction. If you watch their Japanese mega concerts, you expect the crowd to go nuts and follow the girls lead... But it's fun seeing my friends jaws drop when a sea of western metal fans standing in the rain and singing along with 3 Japanese girls. That is priceless. 🤘🦊🤘

When this song came out, I fell in love with the chorus. So I looked up the lyrics. The romaji Japanese so I could sing along. I now can sing along to the entire song. It's a fun way to learn Japanese words.

Thanks for this reaction,. The ear candy might be part of why Babymetal has so high repeatability, Babymetal doesn't get boring for fans. Yep, Babymetal live is life. 🙂 11:43 "how does she do it ? OMG, my voice cracked" well, not like that ! 🙂 The one I always wonder about is her jumping and singing at the same time the whole time since she yelled "everybody jump": 11:07

Good reaction. 'Karate' is about fighting through life's problems, defeating your inner demons, standing up when life knocks you down, helping each other through the hard times. Yes it was raining - their set was delayed 40 minutes while the equipment was covered and Kobametal swept water off the stage ... the crowd stayed on and were rewarded with this performance.

"Karate" also features djent-like riffs and a J-pop melody. Loudwire's Graham Hartmann described the song as "incredibly charming. Instrumentally, it’s also heavy as hell. The song’s main riff is way low on the sonic spectrum, chugging away in a no-nonsense djent fashion." “Karate” took home the trophy for Best Metal Song @ the 2016 Annual Loudwire Music Awards. Karate explained that the lyrics are about never giving up and always moving forward, no matter what difficulties need to be endured. Furthermore, Karate choreographed described how the dance moves were made to help express the message of the song, as most of the lyrics were in Japanese 🇯🇵. That "Hashire" in karate will always tear me up every time. It just gives me a sense of epicness and energy that I have never felt with other songs before. Su-Metal voice has matured over the years now that she is in her early 20s. Noticing little things like Su-Metal removing her IEM at the 2016 UK 🇬🇧 Download Festival to hear the crowd always gets a thumbs up from me. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.

One recommendation I would suggest is to watch Tales of the Destinies and The One as a double shot from the Tokyo Dome shows. They rolled one song right into the other. It's a beautiful performance, and even Su has this one moment where (redacted) and it's so nice to see. Great video, thank you for sharing

4:57 That was a guitar squeal/pinch harmonic. A heavily distorted guitar can make many many funny sounds... :) Karate is probably the only BM song where the music video is actually on par with live performance - overall I would say stick to live versions! That said, the music video does show the meaning behind the song quite well, so definitely check it out. My interpretation of the song; it's about overcoming the limitations you've set for yourself, through hard work and discipline (hence Karate) but also with support from your friends.

Karate is a massive fan favourite and has pretty much been a constant concert regular. Also the MV is one of the few fans recommend as it is IMHO - one of their two best - along with Megitsune). One thing you will hear is that fans sing the Moa/Yui parts NEVER EVER do we sing Su's parts. And yes that was BOH the bassists with his crab stance.
@road-runner Жыл бұрын
Great reaction, thanks! You got perfectly the actual environment and I'm glad you noticed how hard it was to perform in these conditions. I know some bands who probably never have gone on that stage (my IEM doesn't work... so I'm going home... you know). A funny scene was seen before their performance (delayed due to the heavy rain): Koba (their producer) mopping the water off the stage with a broom. You can imagine the memes. 😁 The fact that BOH (and the rest of the band members) is having so much fun, is very significative. He's a seasoned bassist and he admitted that backing BABYMETAL was one of the most challenging jobs in his career. And now you know why he needs credits for dancing. 🤣

👍 👍 My favorite performances of this song. Thank for taking recommendations. BabyMetal just performed on The First Take for the first time. The First Take is a You Tube Channel where famous artists are invited to do a LIVE unedited (and unaltered “no vocal effects”) raw performance in only ONE TAKE. If they make a mistake there is no going back and fixing it as mistakes and all will air. They did a scaled down beautiful rendition of their new song Monochrome.

It was UK, they are immune to the rain. I think poor Yui had to lay down in a puddle. Boh is the 4th BabyMetal dancer. Su will fall in love with the audience, if the earpiece comes out you know she thinks it is extra special. Skip most official videos, the studio mix is weak, live is heavier and more raw. Moa has known hearing damage as reported in a leaked college admission form, Su does for sure for how long she has been on stage.

I don't know why you're so surprised that Suzuka can hold a note for a long time. There is nothing supernatural in this. She is a PROFESSIONAL singer, not just a girl. It is NORMAL for a singer to hold notes for up to 15-20 seconds in one breath. It is excellent to sing for more than 20 seconds in one breath. Anything less is normal. I think she could keep such notes even at 10 years old.

This was at the infamous Drownload 2016 where it rained for the entire festival. At one point the stage was so wet that they weren't sure if Babymetal would even be able to perform, and Kobametal ended personally mopping the stage until it was dry enough that he was satisfied that it was safe for the girls to perform. There is no contest when it comes to live Babymetal versus the studio versions; live Babymetal is always best Babymetal. The interactions with the crowd are an integral part of the Babymetal experience and you don't get that with the studio recordings. Not to mention the fact that the studio recordings are always over-engineered and they ruin Su's voice with too much production. When she sings live, it's just her, and that's far better than any studio nonsense.
