Yoyoka is a wonderful _"force of nature"._ She brings joy to everyone ①. Yoyoka finds her own music. Her parents, very wisely, encourage her to play what she enjoys. They hear her playing music they don't recognise, and discover great bands. She's covered the range from Aerosmith to Zeppelin, Carpenters to Rage Against the Machine. She's self taught. Her videos are one continuous audio take, no edits; playing at home the way she plays live. Yoyoka has covered a wide range of rock, pop and funk (well over 100 songs), and AFAIK, reactions aren't blocked by her or the original artists. 🤔 She's covered about a dozen Zep' songs, including live, unrehearsed 'Jams' in bars. She's also jointly composed several songs, including the very 'Prog' "Sparkling" Her videos have many comments from people suffering depression. They watch a Yoyoka video to lift their mood, and it works better than meds. Yoyoka is a true prodigy. Ever since she crawled over to the drum kit and the family band's then drummer propped her up in front of the kit and let her have a bash, she's been conquering and mastering them. To the extent that now she can be plunked in front of a kit at very short notice and nail any song, no matter how complex. And she is now fourteen, and living in LA, having moved to the US a year and a bit ago to pursue her dreams. She regularly jams at the Whiskey, and is in the company of Grammy winners and musical legends. Check out her channel. Also insanely talented is her brother Shido. He's younger (ten, I think), but he can play drums, guitar, and bass, and does vocals on some of the family band outings. But for all of that, they remain humble and kind, as the song goes.

Thanks for the great reaction! YOYOKA by this time already had 6.5 years experience (seriously...do the math)....lol Pretty sure she came out of the womb with a pair of drumsticks in her hand. Currently one of the best drummers in the world at 14.5 y.o. Made DrummerWorld's Top 500 Drummers OF ALL TIME by age 11 (Youngest Ever). She has way too many accomplishments to list. Her parents quit their jobs and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her music. Recently she has been taking requests on her live streams for songs she has NEVER EVEN HEARD OF. Takes her about 10 seconds to find the groove, then plays them quite well. Plays at Whiskey A-Go-Go about twice a month, along with several other gigs monthly. Was hired a couple months back by Tom Morello (guitarist of Rage Against The Machine) to play at his mother's 100th B'Day party, along with actor Jack Black (School Of Rock), and some other young musicians. A few weeks ago was named "2023 Young Drummer of The Year" by Narada Michael Walden's (3 time Grammy Winner) Foundation. Obviously a natural. A drummer like this only comes around once in a lifetime. I promise you it is not time wasted though! YOYOKA's dedicated fan base have coined "her coloring it with her own ideas" as "THE YOYOKA EFFECT". She frequently uses this supernatural power to improve most songs to be better than the original, regardless of how great the original drummer is. You might like this. Link down below. Taken from a recent live stream, where she was taking requests for songs SHE HAD NEVER HEARD EVEN BEFORE, and playing them quite well, some even like she had been playing them for years. This is "THE YOYOKA EFFECT" in all it's glory. Although she did know these two particular songs already, it will start in the middle of one song and carry directly into a second song. Crazy fills, and over plays the end of the first song, she got really frisky with them. You can tell it's legit. She always keeps it real. The song at 17:09 is a perfect example of one she had never heard before, played to me what "appears to me" to be flawlessly (seriously). How many drummers in the world can even do this. If you didn't know she had never heard the song before, you would think she had been playing it for years. She even went for a cymbal strike right at the end that wasn't there and stopped herself just in time. Simply AMAZING! At 6:33, not sure what happened. She just finished "Uptown Funk" (which she did know), and then "Play That Funky Music" just started playing. Caught her by surprise, but within seconds she was ON IT! She launched one of her sticks all the way across the room and she just kept playing with one hand, not missing beat until her brother SHIDO retrieved it. Must have gone to the moon because it took him a while...lol At the end of the song she says it was the first time for that song. She can be hilarious at times. She was also at her goofiest BEST on this live stream, which we always love.

@@thelionsshare6668 One reason I love her so much is I've spent a lot of time with her and her family as they have done home stays with me on several occasions, where I was able to be at the live recording session of "THE OCEAN" she did with ELLEN. (Sorry if I mentioned that before.

Hiya Squirrel! Yoyoka started drumming age 2. She was playing live with a band and a full size kit at festivals and in nightclubs when she was 4-5. Age six she was doing drumming tutorials on YT. She stated for most songs she had to listen to them 3 times to be able to cover them! She turned professional age 10. She is the definition of a prodigy. She has a lovely family too, who are all musicians. Now 15 her and her family live in the US.

Tiny disagreement. Yoyoka turned 14 October 2023. It isn't clear to me what people mean by 'professional'. AFAIK, it was younger than 10yo, usually claimed 5yo when she became the drummer for the family band. My Best Wishes for a Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year. ☮

@@gbulmer There is footage of her playing onsatage when she was four on her channel if I remember rightly. Professional has a clear definition "engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime.". So maybe earning enough to have to declare your earnings for instance. I'm sure it was stated when she was ten, playing in the family band may not count. Anyway, I'm always glad to be corrected! Best wishes!

Speaking of the super talented younger generation out there, Yoyoka and Ellen teamed up with four other young musicians ages 9 to 16 for a non-profit gig called "Kids Rock for Kids", the proceeds of which go to kids with severe needs. They performed covers of Hysteria by Muse, and Peace of Mind by Boston and NAILED them both. Not only did Ellen and Yoyoka lock down the groove like any good bass & drums combo should, but the two guitarists are equally talented, with the sister of one singing backup. But to me the real standout was lead singer Vinya from NJ who is all of 13 yrs old but has such a powerful range and stage presence that you'd swear she was years older. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWqZmHlpiryVidEfeature=shared
