About two years ago I saw them live in a little venue here in Holland, I was standing in front of her and she can sing all the songs with no effects. She is an amazing singer with a great band.

I saw them @ Into The Grave 2019 small stage, Reaper Stage and amazing, and now ITG 2023 headlining... The band as a whole is fantastic but what she does, the power of her voice, how easy she sings amaze me every tume, and i saw (video) many, many, many Jinjer concerts (proshot, bootlegs, phone videos) she always, always delivery

I was blessed to see them live in a small venue in San Diego in 2018 and was also in the front row and can also confirm firsthand that Tati is every bit as good live (if not better) than in a studio version. LOVE JINJER!

Jinjer are one of the rare bands who often sound better live than on their studio recordings (which are also stellar) Awesome Reaction!

Jinjer shines in their live performances. I recommend "Who is Gonna be the One" (Live, Napalm Records) as a follow up reaction. Good Analysis (Subbed)

When you said "It's like she's growing out of the ground", the lyric is "From the ashes of my roots, the new me will rise to live again" - Tatiana is evoking the physicality of the metaphor in her own physical performance.

And it's my favorite five seconds ever. The vocal prowess and expressiveness combined with the passion and theatricality of her body movements are stunning. There are so many great Jinjer moments it's hard to pick a favorite. That one is way up there for me.

"negative ghostrider the pattern is full" - Eugene doesn't use a pick, it looks like he is holding a pick, but its the fingernails that gives him any percussive sound he needs... search "JINJER - Perennial (Bass Playthrough)" and at 3:17 you can clearly see what he does....

Exactamente. It's a bit like what Geddy does, though Geddy doesn't do it with the thumb. I've been playing that way for years now, ever since I figured out what Geddy was up to. I grow my right index fingernail longer than the others to help with this. But often I don't even use the nail much, it's more the meat of the finger. I think for Eugene it's mostly nail when he plucks like that.

10:47 - You just witnessed an 11 second sustained phrase with note changes and vibrato in the middle. Her breath control is outstanding! 🙂

And the note choice! So unexpected. The guitar chord progression is crazy with harmonic overtones. The bass is predictably unpredictable with Eugene. And her notes are so beautiful yet at times clash with the chords. I keep hoping a composer will break down that 11 seconds for me harmonically. It's remarkable.

This video shows Tati's stage presence really well. It's hard to believe watching it that off stage she's an introvert. Some other good examples are Captain Clock Live at Resurrection Fest, Outlander live at Loudfest, Cloud Factory Official Live, Who Going to be the One Live. Also the drummer has a drum cam video from a show where you can see his feet do the double bass work. It's here kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWe7oJymqMllaKc

I don't know if this came up on the Pisces video, but the drummer, Vlad, is originally a classically trained pianist. He's crazy skilled.

This song definitely demonstrates more of her vocal range and capabilities than Pisces. But, still only scratches the surface of her incredible vocal talent. For a variety of her different clean singing styles, check out Judgement & Punishment vocal one take, Teacher Teacher omv, I Speak Astronomy omv, and Vortex omv. There are many more on the list, as this band truly doesn't have a bad song to their name. But, that's a pretty good sampling of the diversity of both the band and Tatiana's singing abilities.

Eugene does NOT ever use a pic on bass, he makes it look like it with his fingers. I initially thought the same as you.

You're exactly correct. He just pinches his thumb and dinner together and uses the tip of the index finger like you would a pick. It works better for some parts. Eugene always does it in unexpected places for me. It always takes me by surprise. One guy who uses a variation of this technique is Geddy Lee. He does it without using the thumb. But he uses the index finger like a pick, with up and down alternate motions. It's his main technique.

Vlad (drums) is a classically trained pianist. There's a cool vid of him playing Rachmaninov, He's got some good drum playthroughs of their tunes. Eugene (bass) doesn't play with a pick, he's using his fingernails there. Great reaction, i love when real musicians discover this band!

Eugene NEVER uses a pick to play bass. He was hitting the strings with the back of his index finger. I do that sometimes too.

I don’t think the bassist uses a pick at all. That’s just his fingers position. I do that as well sometimes, to add some power and a different sound for variety.

Since you are not accustomed to harsh vocals: On impressive part here is, that her growl has some pitch. Since these are done with the false vocal folds alone (otherwise she'd hurt her clean vocals), they should not have that. That alone lifts her above almost anyone in this genre.

It would be nice if you couldn´t use the word "effect" by her growling. Effect means, that something isn´t natural so it must be artificial. I saw Tatiana three times live and there is no effect neither it´s be artificial on her growling. She can switch her voice on and off like a light switch. It´s amazing to see her live.
@ShawkaReacts

Effects can be both. I understand what you are saying but it still applies even if the effect was achieved in an organic manner.

@@ShawkaReactsgood point! I might argue though that without a device of any kind it would be more of a vocal affect, rather than an effect. I think it's more than either for Tatiana though. It's a fundamental part of the way she sings.
