Dear Tomo Fujita! I've never commented on KZbin before, but now I think that I should. I'm a kind of intermediate guitar player searching for the path to become a professional guitarist. A month ago I've found your youtube channel, watched almost every video on it, and I felt like that I found a philosophy that can make me a better musician. I've subscribed to Guitar Wisdom and now I can state: I know the way how to be a professional guitarist! Thank you for your efforts you put in to make such a high level material. You're a very kind and humble person and the way you teach is outstanding! I wish you good health and many successes in your life!

I have been learning and playing guitar and bass since the late 80’s by tablature only but your video lessons are the only ones that i’ve been able to follow and learn without using tablature. No wonder you’ve been voted as best guitar instructor so many times by guitar magazine. There are many instructors who have a lot of knowledge but they aren’t good at communicating it to the people they’re trying to teach. So not only are you super knowledgeable and gifted, you have the best ability to explain that knowledge and techniques to the people you are teaching. You’re ability to communicate is what really sets you apart. Thank you 🙏 for all the lessons and all you do for so many beginners and even old timers like myself. I also share your videos to many of my friends who have also been playing for many years and they can’t believe how easy you make it. Keep up the great work 😎👍👍

If I could only play one scale it would be C major. It contains D Dorian, E Phrygian, F Lydian, G Mixolydian, A Aeolian and B Locrian. It has the 1-4-5 and their respective relative minors, and the half diminished seventh. No sharps or flats… What’s not to love? Thanks Tomo

The smartest thing I ever did was sit down and decide to learn all of the major modes. With that, you can improvise all around the neck! I still need to learn the Melodic and Harmonic modes. I need to get better at using chord shapes like you do, because that’s where the real jazz lines come in

It took me a while and a lot of brain power (for me) to figure out what you were doing at the end. Then I realized you were doing the c major diatonic scale (1,6,2,5) in triads (then I realized it was in the time stamp, oh, well). But I think this is a great exercise, and really IS part of the lesson. I wish you could have explained what you were doing in that beautiful chord progression and how it all fits into the lesson (scale, triad shapes, major and minor). There's really a lot going on with that. Thank you sir!

Tomo,about the 'Strats' in general, I like to change the Switchblade, to individual switches (one for each pick-up, like Schecter use to do, so you can have all the possible combinations or each one isolated+silence when they are all of!), and to have a 'Delta tone' (middle+bridge), that way, you can have a tone control for the middle pick-up too. Oh and I have a 'no circuit' position, on the bridge pick-up, for that 'tele/lap steel sound''. Hope you're doing ok, sorry for the '2cts'...

There’s 7 notes in the major scale (do, re, mi…). The major pentatonic uses only 5 of those, by removing the 4th (fa) and 7th (to) which sound jarring if not used correctly. The major pentatonic is therefore a simplification of the major which can be played over all the chords in a C major chord progression. The 4th and 7th can be used to add more flavour if used correctly.

As a lifetime pianist I find a layer of interpretation is required when playing the guitar and it slows me down. When I look at a piano I can see every note, and every chord/inversioin instantly. When I hold a chord in the 5th position on a guitar, I have no idea what im playing until I analyze it for 10 minutes. Same with triads. I can grab a functional triad on a guitar and if you ask me what inversion and key it is, give me 7 minutes and I'll let you know. This is why I struggle. And I've been playing guitar for 15 years.

I actually bought the AZES40 with the tremelo and absolutely love it. However, The only downside to this guitar is that it comes stock with a cheap plastic nut. Even Squier is making bone nuts standard in most of their guitars and Yamaha is making GraphTech nuts standard on most of their Pacifica models for good tuning stability. This is especially important for tremelo equipped guitars and the fact that they are only about a $5.00 item, there’s NO EXCUSE for Ibanez to not put them on a guitar they’re branding as “essentials”. Because there’s nothing more essential than tuning stability. I know many players would be more than willing to pay 5 bucks more for the overall price of this guitar to have better tuning stability with the tremelo. As knowledgeable as you are, i’m really shocked you didn’t push Ibanez to put a better quality nut on this guitar for much better tuning stability since it’s such an inexpensive item for a guitar labeled as “Essentials”. Other than that, this is a fantastic guitar especially for such a low price. I especially love the one piece output jack you designed and the smooth rounded saddles you suggested for the tremelo. There really isn’t a better guitar you can buy for only $349.00. But i will be removing the cheap plastic nut and replacing it with a GraphTech nut like i have on my Yamaha Pacifica.

Thank you for sharing. How did it effect your tone? I didn't notice anything that part. I love the tone! Thank you!
@Xcorgi
@Xcorgi Жыл бұрын
@@TomoFujitaMusic I absolutely love the switching system on this guitar and the pickups have great tone on the clean channel and also on high gain and distortion for rock and metal. This amazing guitar is all you need to play any genre of music you want with amazing tone overall. So i have no plans to replace the pickups because they are perfect as they are. I’ll let you know if the tone is effected once i replace the plastic nut with the GraphTech nut. I have already replaced the stock string trees with GraphTech ones and this has already helped improve the tuning stability of the tremelo. Lastly, i just wanted to say that these are very minor and inexpensive upgrades for any guitar and that the rest of what you’ve designed is better than many other guitars in the $800.00 to $1,000.00 range and has definitely become my favorite guitar in my collection.

Can someone help me? I went on the guitar wisdom website and read through the initial page. There it said it's not good to learn scales by shape. But pretty much every other instructor says to learn shapes. Also, I've been working on memorizing the fretboard for a couple months almost. I mean my confusion after watching Tomo is that it's not necessary to learn the scales but learn by ear/feeling? Like I don't have to memorize the fretboard?

My issue is, I understand that connections are being made between the major and minor… but I’m not understanding HOW the connections are made( if that makes any sense) like how you move from the cmajor to a minor i know its all the same notes being played but it’s clearly making a different sound whixh confuses me

Okay. Do it super slow! Just one string! Play Major scale then can you make it as minor scale? M3 to m3, M6 to m6, M7 to m7. 3 places to change. Super slowly! Please take your time!
