I'm crying right now. I think that this is what I'm meant to do with my life. Taking my love for the arts and interest in helping and understanding others by creating a better life for them through music and care.

+Camila Ferrufino I feel the same way. I have a project to figure out what I want to do when I get older for a class and this is the most wonderful job!

I found this video 2 years ago. I was a communication disorders major and hated it. I'm currently in my dream conservatory, majoring in music therapy. This video still makes me bawl like a baby.

This video brought me to tears, it's really beautiful what music can do. I lost my grandmother to Alzheimer's in 2013 & I remember going to her nursing home & my sister & I playing do-re-mi on the piano from The Sound of Music. All of the people in that ward in all different stages remembered the song & started singing! I think I want to do this as my career and help people. Sorry if this is long and sappy but it really touched me.

The worst thing, in my eyes, is to just give up on people with alzheimers and dementia. Music is a way to help ease the hardship of it.

We are offering free download of some Hymns albums for this project! (I just uploaded a video about this called "Songs for Music & Memory iPod Project" ) I am an entertainer serving the Milwaukee area and Northeast Wisconsin I once walked into a facility and found residents hovering over the CD players singing along to our CD, Reflect Hymn. The nurse told me that they do this every day and, "Do you have another album?" (They had to listen to it every day too!) I was glad to report that I did, Reflect Amazing Grace. Enjoy!

Excellent story but does that C major piano dirge help? Who chose it and is it necessary? Why not Larry and his therapists real time sounds? Or if not silence plus a narration alone?

Hi Stefan, I know it has been a few years since your comment, but if you are still interested in learning more, here's the URL to the info from the program my school offers, it is an equivalency program for people with a bachelor's degree in music and can be done online. I am a student in this program and am loving it so far! www.smwc.edu/academics/departments/music-theatre/music-therapy-equivalency-distance/
