I sing showtunes and rock/metal. Today I was singing 18 and Life and did this super long run at the end that peaked at a G5, I was so in the zone I didn't even think about how high it was and BOOM! Meanwhile I choke up on the A#4 in Made Of Stone because I'm like "Oh no! Important note! Better not mess it up!". Then I sing Through The Fire and Flames or some MCR song that goes as high or higher...not sure why Made Of Stone stresses me out so much...

I actually got the privilege to meet Christy Altomare and John Bolton of Anastasia a week before closing. I asked Bolton about how they received so many awards in everything except for the Tony’s, his response, “The Tony committee didn’t come see our show, they probably sent...1 or 2 representatives throughout the voting season. They didn’t see us because they assumed it was just another princess musical.” Honestly that’s just sad, because Anastasia outlasted almost every show from that Tony season. Gotta love it!

Wow! All of those actors make belting look so easy, and I'm so proud of all of them! 👏🏻 I also have a favorite Broadway belt song that is not on this list. Fun fact: That song was supposed to be in Hamilton, but it wasn't because it didn't fit with the 18th century style. It was more classic Broadway style, but I still love the song with all my heart. And it makes me want to go to New York City. The song is called "Cheering For Me Now" with music by the legendary legend, John Kander, orchestration arranged by the amazing Alex Lacamoire, and lyrics by the one and only Lin Manuel Miranda. And Lin's belts at the climax give me absolute chills and sometimes I start weeping. Even though I'm a girl, that song is so hard for me to sing without running out of air, because I have to hold a lot of notes. But I've actually held the notes before, so I'm used to it. And the song turns 3 years old in two days, and I'm so excited! Soon, I'll be belting like CRAZY and I'll post an acapella cover of me singing the song on Instagram soon.
