N. V. Rajam mami was my guru too. She not only taught us (my sis & I) music, but also taught us many other important life lessons by just being the most incredible person. Feel fortunate that I had the opportunity as a child when I did 💕

A serious episode that demands viewing. While listening to the episode, thoughts crossed my mind: (i) with the Gurukula system now fading or non-existing, will a particular bani, get lost - say GNB bani, MMI bani, MLV bani (ii) There is now access to too many Vidwan's & Vidushi's singing (recordings) on digital media. Would not students get weighed down heavily on learning and reproducing it for success (iii) Will we see a change in Carnatic music trend, by the next generation (iv) how to make rasikas to sit back and listen to taniavarthanam as people start going out. Taniavarthanam will lose its efficacy. I know sabhas serve good upma/ vada/ coffee at attractive prices but the love for music should suppress the temptation. In Mumbai, the late Pankaj Udhas concerts used to have intervals. Maybe Carnatic should start thinking on these lines to keep the music alive.
