Today I'm reviewing the Grand Harpsicle from Harpsicle Harps! This is a 33 string electro-acoustic floor harp. It's smaller soundbox means it doesn't have as much resonance as a usual floor harp, but it does make for a super light, portable, and easy to store harp.
You can find it on Amazon here: amzn.to/3myKoCO
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. That means that if you buy something from the above Amazon link, I might get a small share of the sale :) Thank you!
To demonstrate, I'll be playing the Blue Bells of Scotland, arranged by Sylvia Woods.

Great review, Molly. I am in agreement. You covered all the points that I considered when I decided to sell my L&H Ogden and purchase a Grand Harpsicle. I had my floor harp for 2 years and although the weight of the Ogden was manageable, every time I moved it I had to be careful not to put a ding in that gorgeous wood. I really needed a permanent location (like a music room) to keep it in. So I am waiting for my Grand to be shipped to me and living vicariously through your channel! I enjoy you sharing your harp adventures. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Yes, I found it was such a barrier to practice to have a harp that was difficult, even though it was manageable, to move. Plus the Grand fits in my hall closet which is a big plus, haha! I hope you love yours as much as I do!

@@MusicalMollyKhan Me too. And I believe I will enjoy my Grand very much. I had been researching the Harpsicle harps for a considerable time even before I decided to sell my Ogden.I thought about the Brilliant but couldn't find any reviews on it. Your videos and Cymber Lily's videos were very helpful!

Great review Molly! It's a nice sounding harp, and has a lot more sound than I thought it would considering the size of the soundbox. Also, congratulations on the new addition to the family ! :)

What a cute personality and so informative! Great job! Did you ever get your extra strings from Waring? How’s that coming along? I look forward to seeing more videos from you. Happy harping!!!

Thank you! I actually haven't gotten the tuning pins yet, my fault this time - I forgot to include my apartment number! So I am waiting patiently and steadily tuning the left hand strings, haha :)

Thank you for this review. I am thinking about ordering a grand harpsicle as I want to go out and about with my harp (I can't carry my dusty strings very far!) I already have a small harpsicle so its good to see how they differ.

Of course! I adore my Grand Harpsicle for its portability - when I was at the end of my pregnancy it was the only harp I used since it was so easy to carry around 😅

For a review it would have been helpful to hear the difference between acoustic and plugged in. Pretty much the reason why I was looking for the review. Still informative, so thumbs up, but was really missing that essential part of what puts this harp aside from others.

I just received my Grand after having my electroacoustic Fullsicle for 3 years so far but I love both of them. And just a few things for clarity, unless you buy a rechargeable 9V battery (do they make those? Lol) there’s no way to recharge the battery thats installed at the top of the harp. Each 9V battery runs for about 1,000 hours if you keep it unplugged from your amp after turning it off but when it does finally die you’ll have to change it. It’s in a little pouch on the inside of the harp and attached with a strip of Velcro to make it easier to change. It weighs 11 lbs but honestly you’d ever know. Also for those who purchased the Grand standing stand as well, it connects like a Snare drum stand does and it was a bit tricky for me to figure it out the other day when it first came in. The most agonizing thing was the 2.5 month wait period as the Grand usually take about 2 months to build so for those of you who are still waiting, this is why but it’s absolutely worth it 🖤 The only thing is if you want to travel with it, you have to buy the Grand case which is a healthy $400 but their cases are in it for the long haul.

This is good to know! I think I have an older version where the pickup needs a charging cord rather than a battery, but the new way sound easier. I agree the stand can be tricky at first!

Musical Molly Khan When my stand came, I kept trying to figure it out because it only came with instructions that were similar to the regular Harpsicle stand where you prop your harp up onto the wood then secure the harp between the bar and the back of the stand and not one that was actually representative of the standing stand. So I had to go look at pictures on the website and pray that I could figure out how to do it without dropping or breaking anything lol

Great video Molly! I'm impressed by how good it sounds unamplified. Sometimes I miss those bass notes on my 26 string Harpsicle, so I definitely think that getting a Grand would be a good future investment for me. I just have one question: is the spacing between the strings the same as in a regular Harpsicle? or is it bigger, like in other bigger harps?
@MusicalMollyKhan

I will have to measure and get back to you! I don't have a standard harpsicle to measure from, but I can compare my Grand to my other lever harp :)
