Freda Ogden took to calling herself Irma as a means of distancing herself from her family. Likewise, her brother Dudley changed his name to Trevor. Trevor did well for himself and basically washed his hands of his parents, although Hilda continued to worship him from afar. Originally, there were 2 more Ogden children, Tony and Sylvia who were 'in care' when the family first moved in. For some reason, the 2 younger siblings characters were never developed. They never appeared on screen and were eventually forgotten by the writers!

The writers of "Corrie" retooled the history of the Ogdens by eliminating two of their youngest children so that they never existed leaving only Irma (Freda) and Trevor who arrived shortly after this episode and left fairly quick as the character was on the show for less than a year. The Ogdens were the first "common" working class family on the show. The husband was work shy and lazy and the wife was a gossip and not as bright as she passed herself off to be and the kids were tearaway troublemakers. They would pave the way for later families like the Duckworths, the Battersbys, the Browns and the Windasses.

She is but Hilda often called her 'our Freda' in the early years because, I think (but don't quote me) the Ogden's had previously had a daughter that died at birth called Freda. I vaguely remember seeing that somewhere, or it could be they originally planned on calling her Freda, one of the two but I know there is a reason :)

If your referencing Irma. She left the street suddenly in 1971. She didn’t have an onscreen exit it was mentioned she’d moved away. around the time Stan died in 84’ Irma had decided to move to Canada hence her not appearing for her fathers funeral.
