He used to say Revolver was. Of course, he had three songs on Revolver, played bass on She Said, She Said and, along with Paul, played a great guitar on And Your Bird Can Sing.

My three brothers and I fell in love with Rubber Soul in early 1966. We had the advantage that our father was a record reviewer and got it early to review for a major Melbourne newspaper.

I so enjoyed hearing George's part (from Anthology) talking about spiritually.

Their best album if you ask me. It sounds to be so much more cohesive and "concept" than Pepper. The only thing that really bugs me is "Run for Your Life" that ends the album on a weak note.

Merry Christmas! Love these videos!! "Rubber Soul"'s one of my favourite albums for sure, one of the most interesting ones to learn more about. Some small issues with the little "who's speaking" label though. At 9:10 it credits a wrong George, and I've never heard of Bruan Wilson before. Also, is "The Word" really about drugs? Not quite sure. One thing that's interesting about this one actually is how apparently it's an outtake from "Help". But I guess maybe there weren't any voice recordings of the band members talking about that.

For the record, the driver in that clip is probably Alf Bicknell.

Although Revolver probably is a better album musically, this one shows the band in it's early stage of evolvement and is for me as a musician a great reminder to always evolve.

Rubber Soul is to Revolver as Revolver is to Sargent Pepper.

I found it interesting people will say the Beatles were the biggest influence on pop music history. But if you really think about it Bob Dylan had more influence on ALL the pop groups and artist of the 60's and the Beatles said it too Bob was a major influence (not just the pot either)

Eg…the Beatles had made everyone enough money by then , that they could branch out and pretty much people followed.

The whole album being written from scratch, performed, mastered and pressed with the artwork in 25 days is insanely sketchy. I'm not buying the official mythos anymore.

The basic track was recorded in one take and guitars and vocals were overdubbed later that evening.

Correct. McCartney never tells the real truth about things, he is always twisting things to one degree or another. George Harrison's lead guitar solo was overdubbed in later. I'm sure that the background vocals were also overdubbed. The lead vocal was likely overdubbed, as this is typical on recordings. There is also a vibraphone instrument (probably played by George Martin) and added in.

@@slow-mo_moonbuggythey sold out stadiums….in 1965, stadiums. Led Zeppelin just barely their record for attendance 8 years later….8 years later. The Beatles were a force of nature.
