Beautiful song, video and reaction! Before her singing career she actually danced for ten years with the intention to be a dancer :)

I remember hearing her say in an interview that as a young teen she wanted to be a dancer, or a physicist, or an astronaut. A talented genius has many options.

This is one my favourite music videos by Aurora. The way her eyes just grabs you by your soul when she looks directly at you from within the coocoon is just spellbinding. The behind the scenes documentary about this video that Lill M mentioned is very interesting and well worth a look. Whether or not you want to react to it is of course up to you, but you should absolutely check it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpS5oIZsedV5nJo

Winter and everything associated with it in the song stands for depression. My tears are always frozen, meaning nothing more than that I am stuck in depression. The pictures you paint on the glass are the thoughts that go through your head all the time. The cocoon in the video is the prison you're in. And the drones show how you slowly wall yourself in and isolate yourself. You no longer participate in life, you are dead, so to speak. To get out of it, you have to remember how beautiful life was before and that even the hard time is passing. You have to remember what it was like to be alive.

I honestly don't think I've seen a more beautiful person in my life than Aurora in this video. She's just....strangely perfect. Even her imperfections make her....more attractive. And then on top of that she's incredibly smart, wise, very very kind, super creative, etc etc. Some human beings get dealt some pretty awful hands. And some....get every single ace. But, it's on those people to take that and do something meaningful with it. Needless to say, Aurora excelled at that too....

The cocoon is thematically representative of her first full album (AMDGMAAF), which contains moth imagery, and is on one level about her own metamorphosis.

Nice reaction as always Jeff🤗 I absolutely love this song and music video, and yes she’s a great dancer too. I think she’s great at anything she puts her mind to 💕 As Staffan wrote, she intended to be a dancer 💃 She actually didn’t want to be an artist, but I’m sure you knew that😊 Aurora uses nature imagery throughout the song, such as the cry of a winter bird, to show how she needs the harshness of the natural world around her to drag her away from a dream world back to reality. She explained to The 405: "Sometimes you need to be reminded of how it was to feel alive. It's a tricky situation to find yourself in. When you've forgotten about your reasons to live." “My tears are always frozen I can see the air I breathe Got my fingers painting pictures On the glass in front of me Lay me by the frozen river Where the boats have passed me by All I need is to remember How it was to feel alive” These are such great lyrics, as always with Aurora, she’s truly unique ❤️ You should check out how they made the music video, it’s very interesting👍👍

Hi Jeff, AURORA is creative from the tips of her hair to her little toe. Perhaps her parents contributed to this because AURORA was allowed to try out herself freely. Quote from AURORA (Channel Rob For collects quotes from AURORA) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWHPdneVl7SorKs --> about her mother „She is absolutely fantastic. She is very… she is like a… she is like the sun and the water and all that is good. She's absolutely gorgeous. She is a weird lady. So that’s where I got it from. She is absolutely amazing. Mom has taught me a lot, without even meaning to. She was the one who told me I should become an artist, actually. When I got a message from my management, when I was 16, and they asked if I want to be an artist, because they had seen a video of me playing the guitar and singing a song on the internet, I said no. I wasn’t interested in that. But then my mother said: ’But you have to do that, because when you sing a little bit in our living room, I can go around crying a little bit, but I feel better, that I can cry and laugh, and then I feel light afterwards.’ Then she said ’It’s something you have to share. Even if you think it's scary, at least you have to try, because I think it's important.’ So she was the one who pushed me. She has never pushed me. I've never been pushed to anything, neither about fitting in more. They were always... they gave me lots of room to be just who I am. I got to have dinner under the table, I got to do whatever I wanted. Very important. No rules for me. But yes, she’s really the reason I’m here, in every way. Mom is amazing!“ Thank you and Greetings from Germany

Thanks, Jeff. Very cool, artistic video and a fantastic song. I love those closeups, where just her eye or mouth is peeking through the cocoon. As you said, extremely well produced. I think the reason why Aurora always has great people around her is because she's so invested in the entire process. She doesn't just show up and do what they tell her. She's part of the creative process, and she wants it done right. Although she has only been officially co-director on a few videos, she says she's always been kind of a co-director.

I love this song and video so much!. Great reaction by the way. I feel that this song is about how depression arises from being locked in a routine where you start to feel like your life is not your own. We get up, go to work, go to bed and the days just slip past us. If we're not careful, we can sleepwalk our whole lives away! The song of the winter bird snaps us out of the monotony as we realise that the bird very much lives in the moment. It is free to fly away, but is also alert to the instinct to survive. It is a reminder to savour the time we have and learn how to feel alive in the moment.

This isn't my _current_ favorite song of hers....that would be "Wake Up"... the new demo that just leaked. SO good. But....this was my favorite Aurora song when I first discovered her. What caught my ear on first listen...was the chord progression and melody in the verses. Very dreamy...and melancholy....and hopeful, all at once. Also the lyric "...my fingers painting pictures on the glass in front of me..." struck me as incredibly beautiful. Very poetic...but also prosaic. Also love how her voice actually drops a bit in pitch on that part. It's not your usual epic POP chorus. Also....the Nidarosdomen version of this is too good for words. Especially that orchestral extended intro....gah >_
