I met Johnny a couple of times in Nashville (1973 and 1987) He signed a color photo for me I wish I could post here. I got to hang with him for a few minutes. Super nice guy. It was everything you could wish for in a meeting with one of your heroes.

Not by other musicians &or people who know what they're listening to, but public wise JW's far and away The most underrated of the truly elite guitarists of his time.

I knew Johnny and you could name any Blues song and he would know it. Little known fact is that he had amassed the largest collection of Blues albums there is. The first time I saw it, I was amazed, and I am a vinyl collector starting back in 71 with a penchant for obscure Blues and Hard Rock albums. We got to talking about old rare albums and he had them all. He also knew were every album was in this wall of records... RIP the G.O.A.T Blues/Rock Guitarist Mr. John Dawson Winter.

seen Johnny many times up here in Canada and just love this guy. No one can touch him. Best blues player ever. This vid is cool, thanx for your observations. I first saw Johnny with Edgar in Buffalo playin in a 10 hour festival headlined by Peter Frampton. I remember a watermelon fight broke out during Frankenstein. It was awsome. lol.

Johnny Winter was one the old-school Texas Bluesmen, and he was also directly responsible for the revival of Muddy Waters. He was an incredible talent, at the height of his popularity he could sell out stadiums as the headliner, and he absolutely killed his set at Woodstock! Later in live his drinking an heroin made him incredibly frail, but he should still play and sing like a madman. I recall seeing needing help to get on stage, and he had to play his whole set sitting, but he had lost none of his fire.

Saw Johnny at Revesby Workers' Club twice, I tried to get backstage for an autograph but Johnny yelled "ladies only" but Jo Hobbs was nice he came over to me got my pen and paper (my truck's registration/insurance papers) and took it backstage got Johnny's autograph and returned it to me. He was a nice guy, he didn't have to do that for me. I've still got the insurance papers stashed somewhere safe in a sealed plastic container..

Johnny was the greatest "picker" of them all. He had this knack for making phrases and notes jump out because of that right hand that was used for picking and "brushing" the feet board for effect. One of the greats.

I've been a Delta/Texas Blues fan for about 55 years now. Johnny Winter was one of the most amazing talents out there! This year, April 15th, his little brother, Edgar, is dropping a tribute album entitled "Brother". I have every album Johnny Winter ever recorded, including the multiple bootlegs but, this will be the first Edgar Winter album I've ever owned!

I KEEP TRYING THOUGH! I USED TO PLAY THE CLAPTON VERSION OF THIS SONG THOUGH. JUST SUBSCRIBED AND LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE! THANK YOU VERY MUCH! (I'M NOT YELLING BECAUSE I USE CAPITALS, MY EYESITE IS POOR AND THIS HELPS ME TYPING)

In the early 80's, 1981 maybe, I was home from college and a buddy called me up to see if I wanted to go see a band, sure I said. We looked through the calendars of the local venues, nothing jumped out at us. My buddy says, look, this guy Tommy Shannon that use to play bass for Johnny Winter is playing with a band at Fitzgerald's. If he was with Johnny Winter at Woodstock, the new band's gotta be good. Turned out to Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble. I was a fan from the first blistering note.

I recently learned Jaco Pastorius played on Ian Hunter's track All American Alien Boy but couldn't be publicly credited for contractual reasons. Early rap like sections in the song about Ian Hunter becoming an American citizen and learning his way around New York City. Great jam and funny. Tangent : Earliest rap that I know of (not my cup of tea) titled: Here Comes The Judge by comedian Pigmeat Markham. Released 1968. Tight drum and bass. I'm wondering if it's the Wrecking Crew?

Let us not forget about Rick Derringer. I think the McCoy's served Johnny very well and successfully after Uncle John Turner and Tommy Shannon went on to greener pastures. Thanks to Rick, Johnny got Randy Joe Hobbs.

I SAW JOHNNY WITH RANDY ABOUT '91 OR '92. SAW HIM AGAIN IN THE MID-2000'S WITH HIS LAST GROUP. BOTH TIMES WE STOOD IN LINE OUTDOORS WAITING ON HIM TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS FOR AN HOUR OF MORE. THE FIRST TIME WE WAITED IN LINE OUTSIDE HIS MOTORHOME AND TIRED OF WAITING AS HE WASN'T IN A HURRY AND WE GOT VERY COLD AND LEFT. THE SECOND TIME WE WAITED AN AFTER AN HOUR OR SO, HE DECIDED HE WASN'T GOING TO DO IT. LOL! OH WELL, YEARS LATER HE WAS ON THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW WITH HIS SAME BAND. IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, IT'S HERE ON KZbin AND THE SONG WAS "DUST MY BROOM". AS A GUITARIST, I THINK HE IS MY FAVORITE, AS I LOVE MANY OF THE "UNKNOWNS" TOO, SUCH AS, RORY GALLAGHER AND ALVIN LEE, ALONG WITH THE USUALS, STEVIE RAY, HENDRIX, PAGE, CLAPTON. I THINK JOHNNY IS THE MOST CHALLENGING TO EMULATE. OF COURSE I DON'T TRY ANYMORE AND JUST TAKE HIS STYLE ALONG WITH THE ABOVE MENTIONED AND COMBINE THEM. HA!!!!...AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO JUSTIN.

Awesome, my good fortune, The algorithm brought me here. Do you do reaction vedios to audio only sources? I'm thinking about Highway 61 Revisited. I'm subscribing. Johnny Winter, Muddy Waters, Rick Derringer and Jack Daniels was our night club / concert live, get in trouble play fighting each other in the parking lot If the chicks inside weren't buying our blarney music.

Surprised you'd picked this cut for a video. Saw it years ago. As a bass player, it's hard to watch a player of Randy's caliber struggle and fail to decently accompany JW on a trad. tune which he didn't know, but tried to pick-up on the fly. I agree w JW when he said of Randy -- "He was a great bass player." Randy was clearly having an off-day here.

I'll give it to Cream for originating the more iconic songs of the time, but musician wise they didn't have anything on Johnny's Blues/Rock Power trio.

He's albino he wears big hats and things like that because he has to go out doors sometimes... His brother we saw him, Edgar, at a show here in Houston and one of the rare times they go outside in a sunny hot Texas summer day, he had big umbrella type deal with him to shield him from the sun

Hi There I know you have been having issues with the Rush videos. I was thinking maybe try reacting to just some audio videos instead of the live and see if that works. It sucks and some reactors have issues and others don't. Weird Johnny Winter 🔥🔥

Your only listening to one of the greatest blues players and singers there ever was or will be and where Stevie Ray was one of the best at his style Johnny Winter is the same way with his style which is delta.
