This is one of my favorite songs from the BE album. V wrote and composed on this and he was going to include it on his mixtape as an English release, but the other members thought it would be perfect for the BE album. This is a beautiful song and talks about what V was going through during the pandemic. Blue represents Gloomy and Grey represents Anxiety. He's talking about burnout.

My advice for learning who's who is to first match names to voices, rather than trying to remember faces. Their hairstyles are always changing but their voices are so unique and distinct from each other. That's my suggestion 😄 💜

Your difficulty with faces is probably because your brain focuses on the aural (sounds) by default... (occupational slant?). This means you could deliberately pay attention to their individual voice tones to help you identify them. But it also helps if you remember them by grouping the 3 rappers and the 4 vocalists. If you go back to the sequence of their first appearance in this song, note their individual voice quality: V (Taehyung, known for his soulful tone); JK (Jungkook, main vocalist, smooth like silk), Suga (rap verse 1: his flow is distinctive), Jin (pure head voice), Jimin (highest register), JHope (rap verse 2) and RM (rap verse 3).

I'm fairly certain that "sound" you though was processed vocal used as instrument IS exactly it. To be specific, it Jimin's vocal :D If you listen more, you can even hear very "his" vibrato at the release of the note.

I like the way you analyze BTS songs. As a musician you really listen to the different vocals, instruments and melodies. You should watch the video BTS - Medley Live Performance. BTS debuted in 2013 and they have a lot of hit-songs. With this medley you can really get into their hits from the past 7 years. Because it's a live medley you can actually hear their musicians play these songs different from the MV because they have to connect these songs together . There are behind the scenes videos of music directors who were hired to help BTS produce some music. I know JK’s ‘Euphoria’ and V’s ‘Blue and Grey’ (this song) has behind the scenes. The videos are from the music directors who recorded the composition process for their own KZbin channel, not BTS. You can watch those if you want. I am not sure if other songs are also available but I have watched the video for the two songs mentioned above.

There is cussing but it isn’t at anyone, it is more of him letting out his frustrations. I highly highly recommend paying attention to the words because it is a very personal song to him and helps understand Suga a little bit more.

When I first started watching them I was struggling so hard to figure out who was who, with the exception of RM who I had no trouble recognizing for whatever reason. After a while I stopped trying and just paid attention to their voices, the way they sang, their mannerisms, dancing, etc. and somehow it just fell into place. They are very unique individuals with unique voices, ways of delivering their words and music and in their movements, so may be if you don't stress over it but try to learn who they are and let it grow from there it will work for you too? If you were to watch their solo pieces that would help you tie who they are to their names perhaps.
