Now you're talking. I am a massive Hozier fan. I adore both of his albums, particularly Wasteland Baby. His band are crazy good. Many of them play mutliple instruments. In this performance you don't have his two backing singers who are amazing but if you listen to some of his other live performances you will see them. Maybe you need something a little more upbeat to see how he truly performs, but don't expect him to be bopping around etc, he is not like that. He is more a dreamy lyrical genius with the voice of an angel. I’ve been lucky enough to see him live (and meet him) many times … he is utterly mesmerising to watch perform. He is otherworldly in his presence … a true legendary and poetic musician/lyricist. I’d pay to listen to him sing the alphabet, that’s how hypnotic he is

He is super into it it's just that he gets into a kind of a trance it looks like when he plays these kinds of songs especially in such a great environment as this studio with all his great musicians. He reeeeeaaalyy feels his music. I experienced this a few times in my life. When it clicks so much and you're in a flow, sometimes you can look emotionless but really you're in a different kind of consciousness, like a deeeeep meditative state or idk. I think trance can be a good word for it and flow. It is a really calm and peaceful thing. And my God, it heals your soul so much. You let go of everything in those moments, there's nothing else, you just are, and the music is with you and flows through you

The definition of a hammer on is wrong btw. A hammer on is when you play a string when it’s either open or say you have your finger on the 3rd fret high e then hammer your third finger onto the 5th fret high e string. When you hammer onto open strings you play the string then hammer onto the fret you want to play.
