The muted trumpet must be the most haunting sound in music.

John has been a friend for over 50 years. He is currently battling cancer. I have shed tears on many occasions thinking of the day we will eventually lose this masterful voice and character. I love him like a brother.

I adore this performance, John and Lisa just singing in harmony with light music accompaniment, it's almost acapella.

Thank you again for your great reaction and appreciation of our phenomenal Aussie legend, John Farnham. I have read previously that apparently Lisa Edwards was very nervous about being out front stage, so John was deliberately trying to make her laugh, so she would relax more? Please continue to watch many more; e.g. 'Please Don't Ask Me' with either Lisa or Olivia Newton-John.

Not sure if John did this because of Lisa being nervous, this was in 2000, Lisa had done solo performances before this, she did a solo performance of a song she had recorded on Hey, Hey its Saturday in 1985. More likely it was just John being himself having fun on stage. In the video for Lisa's induction into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame (Video below) there is a clip that looks like it might be from that concert, an outtake maybe, at the 7 minute mark where Lisa gets her own back on John doing similar and John cracks up laughing and had to stop singing kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIGchqWfqdOMgqc

Hi Torbin, the trumpeter is Bob Coassin. He’s from the USA, like Wayne Nelson. He’s had a stellar history, including playing for Frank Sinatra. That came up in a documentary about JF. More details on his Wikipedia page. If you ever watch John’s version of “That’s What Love Will Make You Do”, Bob plays a cornet solo straight after Angus Burchall’s drum solo. It’s the fastest and best I’ve heard for a long time!

You're correct, John sings as if it is as easy as breathing. Thank you for your informed comments on my favourite singer and a kind man too. You forgot gospel in that list of genres. His rendition of Amazing Grace with Venetta Fields & Lindsay Field is beautiful. How three people can sound like an entire choir while singing a cappella sections is amazing, whileJohn's shirt bears witness to the energy injected into his singing. I'd love to know the extent of Venetta's historical gospel & Motown influence. Thank you so much.

And if you notice how John keeps his Mic so far down, only some one with a very strong voice can do this. Take Steve Perry for instance, especially on, For When You Love A Woman. He is also standing back from his Mic. Only the best of the best can do this.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇺🇸🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
