Honestly Jakub is one of the greatest guitarists and musicians of our generation. The point where you said “how did he write this” is exactly the point. It’s truly contemporary music. He won’t reach the same acclaim of Plini of Tosin, but he’s technically there, but musically just “out there”. Totally unique and hard to describe. If you delve deeper you will be rewarded.

Recently saw Jakub supporting Plini in Glasgow - and for me he absolutely blew Plini away. I came away from the gig thinking Plini was maybe only playing at 70% capacity (technically it was awesome - but there wasn’t really any emotion or connection in his playing). Jakub on the other hand was every bit as good a player, plus he made a true emotional connection with both the music and the audience. PS - did you count the number of strings on his guitar?

I could hear the great finger-tapping greats in this all throughout. He's just got that whole hero vibe going, someone that makes you go "YES!!!"

Hi, Steve. I'm smiling that you also discovered that veryyy interesting artist. I LOVE this piece, so creative, so different, so interesting. I discovered him some months ago and first I was also confused :). I think Jakub is clearly underrated. I saw your reactions to Marcin as well which I love a lot. BTW I know Marcin personally. I also like Hania Rani, a pianist, so this is my favourite "polish trio!" Thanks for your nice reactions!

He has been one of my favorite artists the last couple months or so. FYI his new album 'Remind Me' that Wait is on just came out. Another good song to react to is Sunflower. Definitely a very unique sound to his music.

OMG!!! What a coincidence! I was totally going to harass you to check out Jakub’s stuff. I’ve been following him for several years now ever since he was in a now-defunct band called Disperse. He is such an incredibly interesting musician and multi-instrumentalist. He doesn’t exclusively do instrumental stuff, either. He put out another song recently titled Heart (link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4eYm6N4fZ2Hjrc) that has vocals. He has a real soft, warm, almost whispered tone to his voice that lends itself so well to his music. But he uses his voice like another instrument. He brings it out when the song calls for it and leaves it on the shelf if it doesn’t. It’s beautiful stuff, really. If you want to see a true display of his dynamics, he recorded a one-take version of a song called Good I Bad Me during quarantine that I probably listen to at least a couple times a week. It’s just delightful. And watching him play and loop each part of the song to build a full-band sound with just one person, a sample pad, a MacBook, a keyboard and some pedals is a sight to behold (link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gYWpg4KJrbxnZ9E). This guy is truly a rare talent and I’d really encourage you to check him out further. He’s fascinating. Also, I lol’ed at “spa metal” but that’s probably the most apt description of his work I’ve heard 😂 His sound is almost as if Moby and Periphery had a baby.

@@leandernelles1025 💯 Disperse was very good. But in retrospect, you can really hear how much of their sound was defined by Jakub's creative input. His solo work feels like the more mature and natural progression of what Disperse began. Bubbles and Tether are frequently on heavy repeat for me. Absolutely excellent songs!
