We recently learned from an interview with Toby that he started working with Angelina when she was 16. He was one of several producers she worked with for her album. They apparently wrote and recorded 8 songs including Bad Valentine. This was all completed about 1-1/2 years ago, well before the Piano Diaries project. Since an EP was released instead of a full album, songs had to be excluded or put on hold including all the 8 songs they worked on. Toby said he was very disappointed and seemed disheartened that none of the songs were used especially because Republic Records were very excited about the songs. Bad Valentine is finally being released. Angelina also said more new music was coming out starting in September. Maybe they will be some of the other songs she and Toby had worked on or other unreleased songs.

Others have mentioned that the church version of this is also very good but more recently they have made a version available that is in the same church but totally live to grab the acoustics. Thanks for the nice reaction guys, this is a more rhythmic version, thanks to the percussion, and perhaps more pressing than the previous one made in the cathedral, the quick walk in an urban environment of London is nice, probably more suited to younger listeners and with city overtones. It's however another wonderful rereading of this song, so sweet and powerful at the same time, her voice seems to fill the streets she travels. Angelina always manages to bring the soul of the songs to life. It's interesting that so many misinterpret this song, due to events of the day I imagine, to mean if the girl was a boy she would be happier. When the lyrics convey a girl saying if she were a boy she would treat girls better, because guys don't treat girls well. The song was sung some years ago by Beyonce. Great 3rd reaction to Angelina, Guys 🙂 But like others have told you already, this is DEFINITELY not an original 😉 However, she and the composer of the song, Toby Gad, have been working together and made 8 songs I believe. One of them will be released soon, and the title is "Bad Valentine". Toby has just entered the music stage again after a 10 year layoff. When he left in 2014, he was c rated as the world's 3rd most successful song writer. A true genius. And combined with Angelina, who knows how far they can go. James Thiel has an amazing live performance of the song on his channel, and was given a specific thumbs up from Toby and Angelina to release his recording. Do check it out!!! As Angelina takes 99+% of her songs, recreates and enhances them, no matter if she wrote them or someone else performed them before.
