The 2nd guitarist was Leda Cygnus. During this time he was using 6 string ESPs usually. Around 2016 he became Stranberg endorsed and with his own models (Leda Signature Boden in 7 and also 8 strings) You'll see him using them in later videos. He hasn't played with Babymetal since early 2020. Bassist BOH has his own signature bass ATELIER Z/Boh's Custom 6 that comes in a few colors. 1st guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura has multiple signature models from ESP, such as : Twinkle Pink 6&7, Pink Monster 7, Honey Gold, M-Seven Golden Moon, and some come in Edwards & Grassroots versions. Even with all those models, since 2018, you'll see him often play the late Mikio Fujioka's ESP Burgundy Mist Snapper 7 and 6 string model also.

Nice one, thanks! Heaviest song about playing hide and seek... Yes, "Catch me if you can" is about playing hide and seek or tag... BUT... with an "oni", a sort of Japanese ogre. This was my very first BABYMETAL song, so it's very special to me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, this is definitely one of their heavier side musically but it also has one of their cutest choreos (and vocals), including my personal favorite move: the infamous "Moa slide" hehe... More suggestions? No problem! Something older: "Uki uki midnight". Something newer: "MAYA". Something in between: "Amore". Until next time! 🤘🦊

Happy birthday Su-metal.🥳👑🎂 Great reaction - and yes, they released their first album at the end of February 2014 - it was a collection of the singles they had released as a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin and new songs written for the album. The Budokan Red Night and Black Night concerts were held on 1st and 2nd March 2014 as a big part of that first album release, so everything they did at Budokan in 2014 (apart from 'Kimi To Anime Ga Mitai') was from the first album and the songs they had not yet played made their debuts. All BABYMETAL songs are different - they were not "still finding their sound", they had already established they will do whatever they want - and this is just another example with the contrast between the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals being emphasised maybe a bit more than in other songs. All growls and harsh vocals etc are on backing track as they always have been. Not sure how you weren't hearing Yui and Moa being more involved in the vocals than in many of their songs before Su joined in - its not like this was entirely instrumental (after the Kami Band's intro) and you even had the lyrics to read. This song is about the story and the performance, you have heard many others that emphasise and highlight Su-metal's vocal talents. Budokan 2014 were the first concerts where the Kami Band played the whole show and where they were finally established as the full time support for all live shows. In this one they were Takayoshi Ohmura and Leda Cygnus (guitars), BOH (bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni 👹(a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... which amuses me probably more than it should😁). The growling vocals (they are on a backing track as usual of course) are the Oni👹 asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance.🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀👹

Thanks for this reaction. This is a very popular song among fans, it's so much fun. Very upbeat Babymetal is always a big hit. You are right it was from the first album, one of their early songs from the first album as well. Little fact: Yuimetal was scared about the sound at the beginning 3:52 when she was in the studio, so the other girls teased her with that by replaying it often. PS Happy Su-metal b-day !!

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃♀👹 'Catch Me If You Can' was included on their third single, 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (released January 9th, 2013). The music is by NARASAKI (Nobuki Narasaki), with an arrangement by NARAMETAL (also Nobuki Narasaki), and lyrics by EDOMETAL (Shion Hirota). Nobuki Narasaki was also responsible for the music and arrangement of 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!'. The creepy footsteps in the 'Catch Me If You Can' intro really scared Yui when she heard it in the studio. Naturally Su and Moa insisted on playing it over and over again. : )

I'm surprised that people dont talk more about the girl's choreography which I think is outstanding.Always in sync including when the two "screamers" run back onto stage and immediately fall into step. I haven't seen the "running" step they do anywhere else and it fits the song so well and makes the girl's look so cute. Their "Indian" gestures and hand movements on numbers such as "Metali" and "Shanti shanti shanti" are so graceful and well practised. Lastly Su metal's ability to sing and dance equally well and take over one of the "screamers" parts in "Headbanger" so effortlessly impresses me endlessly. What a talented group of youg women !

They unfortunately translate “oni-san” (Mr. Demon) as “tagger.” This song, like MEGITSUNE, is about traditional Japanese culture. In this case, a game in which children run and hide from an adult dressed as a demon. The music captures that feeling of running, concealing yourself, then darting to your next hiding place, all the while taunting Ono-san with shouts of “MADA DA YO” (“not yet”).

This is Budokan: Red Night Apocalypse. Black Night was on the following night with a different set list. Later in this performance, Yui fell off the stage during 'Headbanger' and went missing for half the song. The drop was 5-6 ft high. Su kept looking toward her right to find Yui. The crowd were yelling Yui's name after the song because they noticed and were concerned but were relieved when they saw her for the next and closing song 'Ijime, Dame, Zetta'. In that song Moa fell during the run-up at the beginning. Both were injured and in pain. Fortunately these were the 2 last songs. At the end it looks like Moa had a slight limp with her left leg as they walked around the stage waving to the audience. They went on to perform Black Night the next night. Both Yui and Moa looked physically more exhausted at the end of Red Night then Black Night which was 20 min longer. Edit: Btw Happy Birthday to Su-metal who turns 26 years old today!

Awesome reaction guys! You're right, this song is from their first album. Also, really nice you guys did the version with lyrics. While not necessary to enjoy Babymetal, it definitely enhances the experience tremendously! Catch Me If You Can is about a traditional Japanese game of hide and seek / tag, where adults in the town dress up as Oni (ogres) and go after "naughty" children so they behave better next year haha. Also, +1 vote from me for Offset Era at Budokan. I would love to see a Sam vs. Boh bass-off! LOL 👌🔥 More suggestions, as there is never enough Babymetal 🤣: ** I didn't see reactions to any of the below on your channel, but I apologize if any repeats. 1). Amore: Su-metal solo, originally meant as a "pair" with Akatsuki. Live at Wembley 2016 is the best version, but almost guaranteed to be KZbin-unsafe. May need to do a compilation, unfortunately. 2). Ijime, Dame, Zettai (Live, Sonisphere UK 2014): Can't believe y'all haven't reacted to this one yet! One of their earlier songs, but an epic power metal anthem about anti-bullying. This is an iconic performance where Babymetal wins over a large portion of the 55K confused UK metalheads who have never heard of them before. Fun fact, there is also an alternate version "Nemesis Version", where Arch Enemy's guitarist Michael Amott did the guitars instead. 3). Onedari Daisakusen: (Live, Legend 1997): Su takes a break backstage, and Yui and Moa (Black Babymetal) show us how 2 spoiled little devils work their charms to get Dad to spend money and buy them all the shiny things lol. Limp Bizkit, but cute and adorable...never thought that would ever be in a sentence. 4). Song 4 (Live, Budokan 2014): You guys read comments for this in this reaction. This is another Black Babymetal song (no Su). Yui and Moa wrote the lyrics to this song themselves on a challenge by Su. Lyrics may not make sense to Westerners, but it is a very smart and fun "poke" to dispell the superstition of 4 (One way to pronounce 4 is "Shi" same as death "Shi", hence the superstition). 5). Oh! MAJINAI (Live): Joakim of Sabaton + Babymetal. Get your mugs out, matey, it's a pirate-y drinking song, yaaargh! 6). The ONE (Official, Live): Song written for the fans (the ONE). Epic performance, an epic song. It actually is "Part 2" of Tales of the Destinies, just a more melodic version. 7). Awadama Fever (Live): Cynics called Babymetal "bubble gum pop", Babymetal makes a poppy but heavy AF industrial metal song about bubble gum as a cute "F.U." 🤣 8). BxMxC (Legend Metal Galaxy - Live Debut, or Budokan 2021): If you thought the rap section in iine! was cute, then this is the opposite. Su really drops some bars in this song. 9). Night Night Burn! (Live, Legend Metal Galaxy): Latin flamenco/salsa metal? Whatever it is, everybody will be dancin'. 10). Kagerou (Live, Legend Metal Galaxy): Kami West intro + an awesome song. Rock on dudes! 🤘🦊

I might be wrong, but i don't recall seeing you guys react to anything from BM's first foray into the West at Sonisphere at Knebworth, England in 2014. It was their real coming-out party outside of Asia and they charmed the hell out of the hearts of those hard-ass British metal fans. I believe that they were on tour with Lady Gaga at that time also. There are just so many great clips from that performance, which I believe helped get them the invite to the 2016 Download Festival. I think there was a lot of serendipity involved, as I have read that they were supposed to be on a side stage but for some reason were shifted to the main stage. I'm sure Jake or Grington know the whole story in detail. But it's exciting to see.
