This took place right before Momo joined, and there is a second First Take with The One piano version titled unfinished version which is the first performance that Momo ever sang with them. The One being a song dedicated to the fans, the same piano version but longer called The One Stairway to Living Legend was posted online as a goodbye right before their break. We suspect the unfinished was performed as a way to say they still aren't finished yet. Vocals are done in one take, so they have to be in studio with them. The robes are reminiscent of robes Babymetal wore in the past. Everyone suspects the hooded figures are Chibimetal, but that's much deeper into the Babymetal foxhole. There are a couple other 'acoustic' or piano ones, including the The One I mentioned, but also Akatsuki unfinished version.

Nice one. As already mentioned in the comments, watching the official lyric video (and please pay attention to the visuals as well) will give you more feeling for the general meaning and overall message of this song - and the live performances are also very moving. I don't think Su is particularly introvert, that's a new one (especially given she has been performing on stage since she was about 6), but she is a very sweet, humble and appreciative young lady. I agree with Flugelhorn Old Man In Japan about who the figures in white are most likely to have been - and there was possibly some reference with them being dressed in white to when BABYMETAL was leaving their parent group in 2013 and being 'reborn' as an independent band since they dressed in white for the last 2 encore songs at the final show (Legend Z) before that happened. On this occasion this was maybe the last song they did as a duo before the announcement of the "New BABYMETAL" and the reveal of Momoko and the new third member .... and they recorded another song on The First Take, but in their new costumes and with Momometal.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。[FYI : In the electric version of this song at the Yokohama venue on April 2, the audience (including me) sang that ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Moametal and Momometal while Su humming the melody in the sea of phone lights. What a bliss! ] The girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 13 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are certainly homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls. I assume, however, they are the same girls who performed Doki Doki Morning and Karate like clone BABYMETAL (Chibi Metal) in Makuhari and Yokohama this year. The combination of their heights reminded me of them dancing face-to-face with Su, Moa and Momoko. They are younger but equally talented girls in Amuse.

It is about how we can make the world anything we want (light up the sky with fireworks.) The hooded figures. We don't actually know WHO they are, although I just had a thought. In their concert in Japan Babymetal had a "mirror" group of young girls playing a couple songs with Babymetal. The young girls were dressed up in similar outfits as Su's group, although slightly different. It is theorized that maybe these young girls will be doing some of the songs that wouldn't work as well anymore for the Su-group to sing, like the Black Babymetal for instance. Anyhow, my theory is that the hooded girls singing might be those girls. Another thought I had is that one of them might be Momometal and no idea who the other 2 are. Probably girls from Sakura Gakuin. As for WHY the white hooded outfits. Well that is a nod to when Babymetal had one of their first concerts, they came in wearing similar white robes, like an initiation. If you'd like to check that out, then I kind of recommending maybe doing a double. Headbanger and then youtube search for Babymetal AvaMarie. Same song done completely differently. But you'll see why the white robes after seeing that. I do like Su's little voice crack like you mentioned although it is nowhere near as prominent as Morissette Amon's voice crack. Mori I think is the queen of that. She's kind of transformed it into a whole new level lol Babymetal has done another rather acoustic song, in concert and live interestingly enough. You can look up Akatsuki Unfinished if you're interested in that. Su was only 15 or 16 at the time of this concert. It's also a solo. So just Su and a piano, I think there might be some violins in the mix too, but you don't hear them anywhere near as much as you hear Su and the piano.

At the time they released this, they were hinting on the addition of a third official member so, allegedly, the three hooded figures were some sort of cue or something. Also a reminiscence of the Legend Z show encore from 2013, when they performed in white costumes with hoodie representing a new beginning as they split from Sakura Gakuin and became an independent entity. And even bowing the audience while holding hands in the end of the show. But this is my interpretation and it could mean something totally different. 😁

I think the three women in the hood represent SU-METAL, YUIMETAL, and MOAMETAL. The recording and release of the FIRST TAKE was at a time when the next concert (Yokohama) was about to shift to a completely new trio. Many fans had been wishing for YUI's return after leaving due to ill health, so they made the transition very carefully and slowly from the Makuhari concert to the Yokohama concert. I think the first take was part of that. After MOMOMETAL was announced as a new member, the THE FIRST second recording (THE ONE) was sung by three new members. In the past, they wore hoods at their concert in February 2013 (white), their concert in April 2016 (white, but dummies), their TV program (black)in April 2016 and their concert in September 2016 (gold). All YUI were members. I think the lyrics of Monochrome can be interpreted in three ways. The Hiroshima atomic bomb, the Russo-Ukrainian War, the Corona disaster, or any combination thereof. In any case, SU is finally calling on us to dye the monochrome night sky in rainbow colors and start heading towards a brighter world. This can probably be interpreted as a cheering song for YUI who suffered from illness. The fact that the three hooded people are holding hands is probably because SU and MOA are calling out that they will always be together with YUI, even though it will be a new system. In closing, I'm a big YUI fan, and I wish MOMO all the best. Sorry for my poor English from Japan.

Nice reaction. You just witness a small miracle. Su and Moa singing while standing still. We figured it happens when recording. It's another thing to see it. Babymetal did a performance in their early days where they wore white robes. Here it could be a throwback to that. Also they used three former members of Sakura Gakuin. The group Babymetal started with for a mirror performance in a couple of shows this year. Another surprise by Babymetal. As far as singing or doing a show about fighting crime goes. When Su started her career back when she was 10. She belonged to a trio called karen Girls. Named after the anime they sang songs for. It was while with Karen Girls that Babymetals producer Koba first heard Su sing and started formulating a real way to merge jpop and metal. And he built it around Su. Showing Su's been an amazing talent from her earliest days. But with a strong entertainment company helping them keep from going nuts so coo koo like so many American child stars. Babymetal are sweet humble charming gracious and kawaii as can be. Even now with Su and Moa in their middle twenties. They know how to move emotions. For almost a straightforward rock ballad check out No Rain No Rainbow. Be careful when doing a reaction to it. It has notoriously been blocked. Especially the legend S performance. However, it is one of the best performances of the song. It's a Su solo song and if you let her in. Su will move your soul. Lucky for us they usually like to make folks happy.

This beautiful version always makes me cry, but it is still a hopeful song. Introversion is made up of a number of characteristics, and introverts don't have them in equal measure - for example, not all introverts are shy people. Also, some famous performers can be really anxious about being on stage (occasionally to the point of literally throwing up backstage) but not show it to the crowd.

I think they get the reputation as being shy and introverted because they really aren't seen outside of shows. This is just my theory, but I believe it's right. The three hooded figures you see are Su, Moa , and Momo. Momo is the additional voice you hear alongside Moa's in her parts. I believe she was off screen at those other microphones singing along with Moa during the performance. They then did the secondary shots of the three of them in the hoods to keep up the mystery. This was done in I believe late Feb, early March and they didn't announce Momo as the new official member until the April 1st concert. They had to keep the mystery alive of who the "new metal" was going to be. Was Yui potentially going to be able to come back , would it be Momo? One of the other Avengers? Someone totally new? By the way, in case you were wondering the subject of the song, it's supposed to be about the Hiroshima bomb perhaps a witnesses point of view. Su happens to be from Hiroshima

Adding my vote that the hooded trio are the ones doing the backing vocals. Can't be Su- or Moa, we have already seen them, and this is a one-take. I favor the opinion they are the Babymetal mirror unit (aka Chibimetal). Context on The First Take (TFT), it is a Sony promotional channel and designed to highlight the talent of Sony artists. TFT has been branching out to include artists where there is some sort of partner agreement with Sony. They say the only rule is a white studio, a microphone, and just one take. So there are apparently no rules about the use of plug-ins or other FX. We can hear quite a bit of reverb on Su-'s feed and i think the engineer kept pushing the slider up over the course of the song. So they can do anything one could do in a normal studio recording session. But you only get the one crack at it.

@@ericandrews6827 Ah, you got a good point there indeed. Yet I feel it can very much be Chibi-metal still. Here is my two reasons why: 1st, 「The First Take」 series are specifically said to be done in one take. So they probably won't went out of the way shooting a separate shot to fill in with. It doesn't fit the spirit of the show. Which means the three girl in white must not includes Su and Moa. Simply because the video is all within one take so it got to be another three girls standing there in the studio with Su and Moa. 2nd, I think it is very reasonable to assumed that when three of BABYMETAL are presented together, Su-metal will be standing at the middle. It is just the most common formation for the three. I see no reason that they would change it to Moa in the middle for the shot. Which means the middle person should not be the shortest in height. But this fits Chibi-metal's height. On the official site, Miko is 153cm. Kokona is 157cm, Sakia is 158cm. So Miko standing in the middle fits the image. But indeed they don't look like 157-153-158 in the video. It is possible that they grow into a different height already and it's not been updated on AMUSE's website yet. Or the three in the video is another set of girls that is not Miko, Kokona and Sakia after all. 🤔
