Thanks guys. I had heard of Sokoninaru but had never actually heard any of their songs. So your video was an introduction to the band for me. They're awesome! I'm definitely going to be checking out more of their music.

I totally understand your fascination! Misaki Fujiware is certainly one of my favourite bassists to watch and listen to :) She always has such awesome tone, too! Even in the live recordings!

Just come to your review here from listening to bandmaid playing "Why Why Why" live. Go very well together. Worth it for funky MISA and screaming miku then kanami enters the chat

Regarding patterns, note how at the end of the first /verse/chorus/whatever, at 7:01, he plays 3 notes on the guitar, at 8:14 the drummer adds 3 more beats, at 9:48 he plays another 3 beats on the guitar and at 11:47 she plays an extra 3 notes on the bass. So they're taking turns...

Sokoninaru started out as a cover band for Ling Tosite Sigure. The bands share a similar virtuosity and in LTS songs like Telecastic Fake Show you can hear the same frenetic changes that Sokoninaru took and made their own. However, LTS sing in a more screaming falsetto that can be difficult for western ears to readily accept. If you’ve watched the anime PassCode or Tokyo Ghoul you have heard their music. Ling Tosite Sigure are especially known in Japan for their concerts, imagine what you just watched extended over an hour and half non-stop performance.

More of sokoninaru. I recommend "Sokoninaru - Vortex" Live performance. The way they do it live, is more fascinating

Thanks for doing my recommendation (I'm sure other people recommended it too). What I like most about your reaction is that you got past the technicality and noticed that it actually sounds beautiful too. I look forward to hearing a Sokoninaru-influenced Offset Era song! Btw, despite being a big fan, I'm still not completely sure of the pronunciation of Sokoninaru. It's an invented word (or phrase; it's sometimes written Soko Ni Naru) that they always say too fast for me to catch properly. I think you did fine except you added a Y sound, turning the na into nya, which isn't there. I'll recommend them again in the community chat in another 6 months 🙂

Misaki and Misa of Band-Maid must be sisters two bassist best playing in the active scene. It great here some good female bassist with SAWA of Aldious, Fami and Miho of LOVEBITES, RIO of Mary's Blood, Haru of Bridear, Hettsu of Hanabi and the Queen of bass KOGA of Gacharic Spin. But as a former bassist myself my personal favorite is Misaki of Sokoninaru. Thanks for the reaction gents.

I have a special recommendation for you guys that you will love that's in a kinda similar vein to this song. "Unravel" by TK (his most known song with 282 Million on Spotify as of writing this) is the original opening of the anime Tokyo Ghoul. The song is essentially about the main character as he changes into the "monster" he sees himself as due to the events of the story. It's definitely a powerful metaphor and when you hear his voice, even if you can't understand the language it definitely gets to the heart. There's not enough words to convey how incredible this guy is, his breathy falsettos, his incredible guitarwork, his intense screams, when he slows everything down and sings softly as well. It's just something else.

They are masters of their formS & apparently she's the 3rd best bassist in Japan, F-Choppa Koga is 2nd, would you consider Jazz so you can check out the No.1?

I like all of them a lot (including, what I assume is supposed to be Juna Serita?), but there is no way they are the top-3 bassists in Japan. First and foremost it's impossible to measure that and second of all, there are so many amazing jazz musicians in Japan. My favourite Japanese bassist is Miyu from Asterism, but I wouldn't consider him top-10. Also, while I am not at all a Babymetal fan, Boh is a fantastic bass player (who is actually a Jazz musician as well).

I can't find the article but No1 was not Juna but some guy I'd never heard of and really struggled to to find anything by. I agree it would be an impossible and meaningless metric. It was a population age balanced poll of 1000 people that expressed a preference and understanding, whatever that means I don't think they have grades, levels or competitions as they do with the Shamisen & other 'traditional' instruments. I love Asterism too but am also a big fan of Margaret Hiroi of 88Kasyo Junrei. These Guys should check them out, if they haven't already. @@MaartenT
