I found out about this band from the first video you did on them over a month ago and I am completely obsessed with their music. I have listened to every song they have on Spotify over and over as well as all their vids on the KZbin. I can't get enough of these guys. I really hope you're going deeper into what they offer. Thank you, Tony for hipping me to this outstanding music.

I've been a huge fan of them even when they mostly started as a cover band, you'd think the novelty wears off from the initial shock of finding them but I still jam to their songs weekly years later. Should definitely look into the rest of their stuff, including live! It's even more impressive that they can nail the stop starts and complexity.

"Where are you at when the music is this wild?" If the wildness was just flexing, or being unconventional for the sake of it, I wouldn't like it. But with Sokoninaru, the wildness is a means to the end of making beautiful music. They're one of my favourite bands.

I think something people tend to miss is how much humor is in their music... people keep comparing them to pretentious dreck like Polyphia, but to me it seems like they're just having fun -- the parts where they pause and Jūkō will play some quiet chord are like musical winks, like someone acting really scary then turning to you and giving a wink, saying "just having a laugh"...
@pencilonpaper1026 Жыл бұрын
@@greggerypeccary yes this!
@justyouraveragehumanbeing74119 ай бұрын
@@greggerypeccary did you just call polyphia prentention drecks 💀 i obviously do not know them personally, so i don't know how they act, but they are far from being trash, if you don't like them thats okay but you can't deny how they are objectively some of the most skilled musicians in the music industry
@greggerypeccary9 ай бұрын
@@justyouraveragehumanbeing7411"Polyphia" (and "Chon") is a word used as an example of pretention in some parts... yes, they know how to move their fingers fast, but that doesn't equal good music. Here's a true fact: someone I know who saw tricot on all their US tours said that while on the solo tours the audience was very mixed in terms of race, sex, age etc., when they toured with Chon the audience was 99% teenage white boys. That's the target audience of these bands: middle-class boys who sit in their room and jerk off on their guitars and are impressed with technical ability.
@wysockib Жыл бұрын
It's almost more impressive when you watch the live version of the song, since there isn't a lot of editing going on and you can actually watch them play the whole song.

Thanks again for a wonderful reaction to this criminally underrated band. You totally hit the nail on the head with them. Even after having been a musician for quite some time, I listen to them and I unabashedly acknowledge there is a higher, much higher level of music being created and performed with this trio. Honestly, and with no reservation, they have changed how I think about music and what it can do. While there's no video for it, I think you might like their song Burial on Ice they did for a Christmas album (yes a Christmas album). The changes and everything they build up to just comes to absolute perfection. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIGcZKRup99obdE
