Awesome band. I just love the bassist and her voice when she sings the harmonies and she is one cool bass player as well. Their cds is a must have. Keep it up.

The name of the song is "闘争を継ぐ" or "Tousou wo Tsugu" AKA "Continue the Struggle." This song was commissioned by a Japanese professional baseball team called the Orix Buffaloes to be their 2023 season 'starting members' (starting lineup) opening theme song. And it sort of worked. The Buffaloes went on to play Band-Maid's Saiki's Hanshin Tigers in the Japan Series. Saiki's Tigers defeated the Buffaloes in seven games to become champions of the Japanese professional league.

You might have heard "Canada," but that's actually the Japanese word "kanata,(かなた)" which means "far away" or "distant place."

The only quibble I've got with the analysis is the idea that all the songs on a given album sound the same. While I think it's true that they can and sometimes do sound similar, I think that's because each album is, in a sense, it's own artistic universe; and, as such, each has it's own themes and ideas that act as a sort of snapshot of where they're artistically at during a given period. Rather, I'd say the more apt thing to ask is: "do the albums all sound the same," because I've seen plenty of bands -- many of which are much more well known than Sokoninaru -- who sound the same from album to album. Conversely, Sokoninaru albums are always a guessing game because none sound exactly the same as another, and each has new wrinkles and influences that are always a pleasant surprise.

A couple of songs that have a different feel from their normal fare, "Metalin" and "White for" Also, they have over 100 covers on their channel, which can serve as a journey through Japanese music. You'll find covers of Luna Sea, Glay, Tokyo Jihen, BABYMETAL and many, many others, so you get to see their talents on display in a variety of genres. That was how I found them, when they posted a cover of the Psycho-pass theme from Ling Tosite Sigure.

Since you’re talking about playing fast, Midori from Lovebites said in order to play fast, you gotta play slow first.

When I first got into Japanese music, Sokoninaru was my #2 band. They were so exciting. Unfortunately, with one exception, I haven't been a fan of anything they've released since. I find their newer work lacks some edge, and while they're technically still doing some of the things I loved them for, their stop starts (for example) seem to lack any purpose. Like in this song they stop and start, then the song goes on as before. They aren't built up to, they don't bring focus to any parts of the song. They're just there. They also seem to have become more melody-focused, but I never thought melody was one of their strong points. They seem to meander and aren't particularly catchy, memorable, or emotional, and he sings them with such restraint that it's hard to care.
