Roger Waters....Noel Gallagher....Curt Cobain....Jimmy (the sloppiest guitarist to ever play) Page?? THESE people hate Phil Collins??? Why, because he was encouraged by Hugh Padgham to release Face Value, music that Phil never really had a plan for. Or because hes one of the finest Prog Rock drummers to ever sit on a drum throne?? Because he had great success, even though he's stated on numerous occasions that when he started drumming he figured he'd be playing Big Band music in small clubs for a living. Ask Leland Sklar what HE thinks of Phil Collins...."hate" will never come into the conversation. However, "he's one of the most talented people Ive ever met, and I love the guy" WILL be mentioned for sure....and Leland has played on a couple thousand albums, so he's been involved with talent (or people who were quite full of themselves, but not necessarily talented).

He was actually married two times before he married his third wife Oracene. His first one led to a very bitter divorce and his second solo album "Hello, I must be going" flopped, despite having a couple of good songs like "I Don't Care Anymore" and his rendition of the Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love". He had two children through his first wife. He married his second wife Jill and I think had two more children, which included his actress daughter Lily. They divorced after 11 years. Then he married Oracene and has a son Nicholas, who is also a musician as his dad.

I don't like him or his music. But there are a lot of people that do, and a lot of other acts that I like. It's called a matter of taste, not good or bad taste, just different. It doesn't bother me that people like him anymore than it should bother people that I don't like him.

Well he did turn a 70s progressive, creative and unique sounding band into a middle of the road, adult orientated, dad music, soft pop band of the 80s. I'm sure he earned a shed load of dosh, so not all bad then.

I'm a 90s kid and a huge fan of the alternative scene, Kurt Cobain, and Oasis era, but I find it funny that people are obsessed with them. I'm glad Phil Collins was just being quiet.

You won't find musicians any more overrated and bitter than Cobain and the Gallaghers, and has Roger Waters ever said a kind word about anyone, ever? Page is just pissed off that he fucked up the gig himself, and Collins was a convenient scapegoat. As for McCartney, maybe on this one occasion Phil should have kept his own counsel! Let's face it, Collins has more talent in his big toe than 99% of all the other rock musicians put together. Genesis has been the soundtrack to my life - rock on Phil!

Seen him 5 times from '87 to '07. Never gave a bad performance. And if you're quoting a raging anti-semite, who is universally shunned by everyone he has ever worked with; you may be looking in the wrong places for good judges of character.

wow, this is brutal lol. and undeserved, IMHO. phil collins brought RnB to rock in a way nobody has (one more night, etc). not to mention his drum production waa obviously on the cutting edge of those times

After Steve Hackett left the pop direction really amped up. I do like certain tracks on the later albums, but every album had more tracks that I'd rather skip.

Hmm. Yet everything I've ever heard from people who met Paul McCartney has been great. Maybe Collins shouldn't have asked for an autograph when McCartney was already in a stressful situation. But I guess we all have bad days.

The title of this video is a little misleading. Page's comments feel more like they were about everything that went wrong with Live Aid, of which Collins was a part of that experience, not so much a direct shot at Phil or his abilities. Everyone else just seemed like they were expressing personal opinions of the man and/or his music, which they are entitled to. Not everybody is required to like everybody else just because they are in the same profession.

I do not consider at all the opinions of mediocre musicians like Gallagher or Cubain, if I am surprised by the opinions of others. Collins is a complete musician and an excellent innovative composer, thanks to him Rutheford and Banks kept their Band updated, there are many things that I do not like about his solo career and many other very good ones within the Pop commercial scheme. As a drummer he was one of the best in the entire Progressive era of Genesis. His foray into Jazz Rock fusion with Brand X is formidable, being able to perfectly play in bands like King Crimson, Yes and Even with Frank Zappa, the work with Peter Gabriel and Robert Plant has been wonderful, the thing about Jimi Page (Hero of my youth) is totally misplaced, Page became a terrible live guitarist throughout the 80's to the point of being unable to correctly play what he himself has created and applauded throughout the 70's, Macca only continues to live from his Beatle past just like Waters with Floyd who never showed progress as a musician nor has he done anything new, Radio Waves was Very bad, after the Wall, Waters' creativity was limited to multimedia.

Phil is right about Oasis not being as talented as they think they are. And they are just as notorious for the Gallagher Bros infighting as they are for their music (maybe even more so). Cobain isn’t even fit to hold Collins drumsticks. And Page, the one who was clearly out of his gourd at Live Aid
