"Why do we subject ourselves to the barred chord" is such a true sentiment when i was just learning. I kinda wished that triads were put in my early "just play chords" training.

+1 on the triad thing. As far as barre chords, I’m glad I was taught them early on, despite the hand cramps lol. Also one that I think that gets overlooked or people just go straight to a KZbin tutorial is using your ear to figure things out. When I started you had the recording of a song, maybe a tab and your ear. People would be surprised the amount of songs they can learn by using your ear and moving around the fretboard.

Marty is especially the best for the lower intermediate to beginner because I think he takes into account the dexterity and experience is not there yet for that group. He will teach many songs without the true chord voicing and will substitute easier chords that work well enough thus, getting more people playing quicker. He will also leave out some of the actual fluff played in the originals to also accommodate that group.

Justin Guitar was my main source, I followed his plans & am still following the later intermediate & advanced stuff. There are a few who have guided some of my song learning, like Marty, Guitar Zero 2 Hero, Swift Lessons, and Fretmore for my classic country tunes, Lessons with Marcel & Brandon Johnson for bluegrass chops, but trying to play what Trey Hensley puts out will keep you busy too. When it comes to building my practice session, holy smokes there are a ton, including you. As you can tell I love Bluegrass & Classic Country and Classic Rock, but come on, Bernth has some of the best workouts there are, especially for synchronization.

Marty's awesome, and so is Justin Sandercoe 🇦🇺 and Carl Brown and Chris Sherland and Ian Stich. Us guitarist wannabes are very lucky to have such a deep pool of great teachers available whenever we want. Thanks guys 🙏
