I picked up and old C-Melody sax, just to restore it as I restore old stuff as a hobby. Sadly I have two screws with no head remaining. I wanted to find an easy-out, but I have yet to find one small enough.. Do you have a video to unsolder and resolder?

Could you soak a badly corroded horn? I have one that was a wall hanger, unfortunately

It may have been a pinched rod meaning slight kink on rod been hit. As a repairer I will clean & polish the rod then machine it with a drill and wet & dry sand paper works 9 times out of 10 rod saved.🐊

Yes! Save a rod when you can, but if you can't it's easier to sacrifice the rod than to sacrifice the key. Thanks for your comment!

Actually, once you commit to unsoldering why cut at all. If you unsolder the screw side, perhaps you will be able to get a better grip and save the screw. If you unsolder thread side, you may save the screw and avoid the alum bath.

11:09 Why not desolder the threaded post, that way the key, hinge rod & post are off? Then you can slide key off and remove hinge rod from post then fabricate a new hinge rod or you might get lucky and be able to reuse old hinge rod. That way you avoid any cutting.

Most shops have a waiting period before they start working on them. Usually 3 days.
