Of all the fascinating aspects of Tatiana's talent, that's the one that blows me away. She heard people doing what she calls "extreme vocals" and said "I wanna do that!" And she proceeds to not only figure it out on her own, but to end up with one of the gnarliest growls around. Not to mention the extremely good cleans, belts, screams, etc.

Great reaction - subbed! I appreciated what you said about practice - as talented as Tatiana is, vocally, lyrically, and as a performer, she's put a lot of years into perfecting her skills to make the most of those talents and she is constantly improving her skills. Those pop-ups with info are slick, nice touch! Perennial live at Wacken is a great next stop for a concert performance. There is a lot of editing on this one. I've seen them twice and they are great live. What you said about feeling the lyrics in covers made me think of her performance of Alice In Chains' song Man In The Box collaborating with Suicide Silence. In the second verse you can see by the look on her face, especially between lines, that she's really feeling what she's singing.

@7:54 that opposed-dualist aesthetic within the music itself is no accident. It is inherent to what she believes the nature of a Pisces to be. Those opposing wills form the core of what a Pisces is and she highlights it lyrically throughout the song, very inspired writing imo.

@Strathaczar
@Strathaczar 2 жыл бұрын
@@speedyginger2219 what I meant by it is there's no "activation pedal" to her voice. It may have layers in it (which is mentioned in the description of the original video). It was meant as no, her voice needs no "effect" that makes the growl noise.

I honestly don't know how true this "live session" is, because the audio from that video is 100% the same of the album (literally, if you play both at the same time is a 100% match). Either they used that "live session" for the actual album, or they played it live for the footage and then edited with the audio from the album version. Either way, it def had mix and master after recording.

What you’re hearing is really from Tatiana! And if you might be curious, I can vouch for the video from VoiceHacks called “Distorted Vocals Defined: Different Types of Screams Explained” kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXPVeKmeabGdg9U where the channel’s host, Mary Z, goes over various techniques that people of any gender can use to get vocals along those lines. And when the right techniques are used, singers can use of those types of vocals without doing any damage to their voice. And if you might like to listen to more Jinjer, I think you’d really enjoy “Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)” kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKnMZJxvrN-EeM0 and “Teacher, Teacher” kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYPOg6qCZdudhck -and that’s just to name two among many others! And just as a preemptive heads-up: If you might like to pronounce “Wacken” like the locals, one would say “Vah-ken.” (In German, “W” is pronounced like a “V” is in English.) I’m only mentioning that part just since most folks seem to stumble over that one a bit. PS I’m not sure if it might be too late to change this, but it looks like there may be a typo in “Jinjer” in your video’s title?

I could not have put it better, @Music Shed. I mean, i am not new to Metal & screaming and all that comes in certain parts of metal. In there since 1987. But there is always one of those very very promising bands you listen to, that moment you know you got something special. I still remember the first time I heard that song, it was like in my face. That mellow mood from the clean parts, that really gets to you, when you let it. And then the change to the really pound of flesh she's biting off there, with the rest of the band, and I knew i was hooked to this band. And even then, you know, you have these moments sometimes, with certain bands. But you dont have these moments so often, its kinda special. And often it just fades away, because you heard one or a couple good songs of a band and find it so promising and its really getting to you, but then what follows is kinda not special anymore. With Jinjer, its permanent special since the first time i heard them. They have their own very special and distinct sound, not to mention really awesome musicians, and probably the hottest russian ever to be in metal. ;) But no kidding, they know what they're doing. And if you like Metal, and a little Jazz and such, you'll love the combination of mellow and hard parts. I also liked their more technical side from back then, which got a lot different after KING OF EVERYTHING (album), but in a way even more distinct and special. They are still technical in many ways, but not so much "Progressive" in the sense of phrase what that category in Metal is. They got to their very own level now, and I doubt anyone can throw them off that place now. Btw, I only saw your vids here today the first time, there is plenty of people "pretending" to be Music Teachers etc. and many of those reaction videos are a joke. But you're one of the good guys and I really like your approach. There are still some more JINJER videos out there, hopefully you get to those too. ;) Take care, cheers from Germany.

Holy shit this was a great video. I'm an old, failed musician and I can't emphasize enough how right you are about "be yourself 100%" and "practice." When I look back on all my regrets and failures most of them come down to me not being honest with myself about whether or not I'd put in enough practice, and me taking just a tiny incremental edge off my self-expression in a misguided effort to go along with what I thought was currently popular or to try to be accepted. Colossal mistakes on my part that I'll regret forever. But anyway yeah; great work, man. I hope your students appreciate you, and I wish them way more than luck.

If you would like to see a good range of her and the band's abilities, check out Perennial (Live at Wacken open air 2019) or for the best range of the entire band's ability I would suggest Teacher, Teacher (official video). Actually, I'd suggest both in that order. Perennial is my favorite, but I'll concede they show more of their range in Teacher, Teacher. Now to get their full range, well you'll have to listen to their entire catalog, but Judgement (& Punishment) and Retrospection are good points beyond the aforementioned.

I don't usually like text over the video. But in this case however, I really enjoyed your factoids. Great reaction!

I don't know how your music theory is about drum but look at Tomas Haake recording Mushuggah - Clockworks in studio. He is amazing and i have no idea how his brain is wired.

Very nice reaction! I really like the editing in of those factoids. I hope it catches on. You're probably going to have to edit anyway, so you may as well baffle them with your B...errr, brilliance. PS From what I hear, that's the same way you get to Carnegie Hall.

Joe Cocker was also great at “owning” his covers. Did he ever write a song?

Horses for courses.on a side note. The production quality of the vid is top notch. Why you haven’t got more subs I don’t know.

i find it interesting how jinjer doesnt really do guitar solos.... but its fine because everything they play under verses and choruses are already so intricate. the guitar under the outro "emeralds are ripped away" looks as hard as many solos

I see you picked a Neumann as opposed to the more common SM7. Nice! You should have more subscribers. Well done,
