Cubase 14: Drum Machine - Not just a Groove Agent SE Redux!

At first sight I underestimated this. I already prefer Beat Agent 5 over Maschine (a lot!), but many people have problems with the Beat Agent buried in the GA UI, with a lot of functionality not in good overview. You really have to work your way into it and know what to find where. Apart from velocity layering, this new tool is a HUGE upgrade over Beat Agent IMO, and simply the by far best and most user friendly groove tool out there from my view, simply because you keep all the powerful functionality in good overview in the lower zone, while always seeing what's roughly going on in your grooves mirrored above in the track. This thing is an absolute winner for everyday use!

Is there a way to save a custom kit to presets? can't figure that out.

Do you guys know Reasons Kong? It's an incredible piece of gear. Especially if you set it up with a pattern sequencer to trigger the sounds.

Thank you for this overview. I found it very helpful. You're very clear and easy to understand. I'll be using this Vsti a great deal. I have a question about the group page output section. How do I route these outputs to the mixer?

Can you assign a vst to a single pad sound? For example if you don't like the built-in eq or delay effect, is it possible to insert a different plugin to do the job? Thanks

You must assign that pad to a individual output in the same way as any multi output VSTi, this is made using secondary click on the pad and selecting an specific output. Then you can put any VST on that output channel.

@musictechtuition Have you tested or can you confirm that you can run multiple instances of the Drum Machine within a single project? You can do it with Groove Agent, but it gets kind of cpu hungry and also I've found it to be buggy when you save. Thank you for your videos as always.

My media bay does not find any preset. Do you need to buy any sound pack for this new drum machine?

I also never use the side panel media as I have a ultra wide display is too far away , if you set media by to preview and auto preview you can hot swop there :)

nice breakdown...one thing i'm discovering is that you can't...(leastways i haven't worked it out) how to enlarge the sample ...i've bought in some samples that are quite long...and whilst i could adjust the start and end point, i couldn't do that with 'zoom' accuracy.....this is something that is integral in ableton's drum rack...but ....can it be done here in Cubase?

Can an existing groove agent track converted to drum machine? So at least to have the same samples loaded in the pads?

You can open an instance of Groove Agent as Pattern track, and then having lot of fun sequencing all the kits!

The thing the bothers me about the drum maschine that there is no zoom for sample editor.

And drum layers have no trigger offset option. Even poise lets you offset drum pad layers. smh.
