Hound + Fox were part of Home Free's production crew for quite a while, and is part of the HF extended family. Their collaborations are always incredible. This was prior to the pandemic -- Tim still had his long hair! Thanks for the extra doses of HF and H+F Christmas joy!

Wasn't that a great video? This was filmed on the Oregon coast, and released in 2018. If you look at the credits you will see another familiar name- Darren Rust is credited as on of the recording engineers. Reilly and McKenzie were originally FifGen film company and did most of HF's early videos along with the legendary Jimmy Bates who is still HF's main camera man. The Home Free 'family' contains so many supremely talented singer, composers, arrangers, and (gasp!) instrumental musicians. Go enjoy them all.

Another fantastic choice Krystal, and another great reaction Jeremy and Jillian! So haunting and ethereal. When you consider the voices with H+F (especially in this song)…light and airy…Tim’s lows probably don’t need any boosting to come through. Whereas with Home Free he’s competing against the power of Rob’s and Austin’s voices. Tim’s lower frequencies probably need boosting to be heard at the same level as the higher tenor frequencies. (Just my unscientific guess 😏)

This is a haunting song to begin with, but these three Magi made it so very special. The whole thing is just stunning. Oopsies are forgiven…did it myself in the church parking lot 😣 But I didn’t call anyone a name or have bad feelings for anyone, I just dropped something and out it came! I’m hoping that I got everything for today. It’s always one of my favorite places to be when I’m feeling overwhelmed. God bless you both for the joy you bring into my life!!

Wishing you all a very good Jul and a good continuation❣️ (Swedish style) As for Jillian's comment on the different amount of reverb on the voices, I thought she did touch on a super interesting topic. And in my eye's Jillian's observation was really perceptive. And I do believe, it would be super interesting to a lot of people, if the resident expert on the subject, would care to elaborate. There are a plethora of reaction chanels, so emphasizing this expertise would imho make you stand out even more, in the best of ways. Either by adding a bit more at the end comments, or perhaps by throwing in a special technical episode once in a while. Some of the most successful creators seem to be appreciated especially for sharing their high level of knowledge. Like, the charismatic voice (vocals and more), the daily doug (composition), tank the tech (gear and live management) aso. But I have yet to see someone really good at production and mixing. Anyways, as an amateur with a range similar to that of Tim Foust, I have noticed that it's way harder to make a large amount of reverb sound ok. Even when moving up to the baritone range, it doesn't sound as good as for tenors and mezzo or sopranos. I find that the lower the range it just gets "muddy and messy sounding". My guess, most lower voices (and the lower register you use), the more noise or higher share of atonal frequencies. My guess humans percive reverb as more pleasant the cleaner the input signal. IE the higher the quota of base frequency and distinct overtones vs noise. That's why I think Jillian is right to some degree. Either the reverb is less auditable the lower the voice. Or the sound engineer actively choses different and more conservative reverb settings. Even a voice like Tim's that is almost uniquely resonant with low noise ratio even at extreme lows, still can't take reverb as well as a tenor. For me, I turn down the amount, but still use as much roomsize as the other parts so it will fit. And if more reverb like sound is needed, I think it is quite common for base vocalists to just sing with a tiny bit "vocal fry" added. It sounds good without getting muddy, especially together with higher voices that have a lot of reverb. Any thoughts? Am I completely off? 😅🤷

Thanks so much for the great comment!! As you likely know, the sound engineering could be influenced by a variety of different factors (including artist preference). Happy to cover in a future vid- too hard to elaborate effectively on comments. See you soon, and belated Merry Christmas!! 🎄 ✌🏽
