hi, the aaaaaah's, and ooooh's are from tracks by Alessia Cara and pau does the choirs (no sé si se dice así) TW had only 10 days to reimagine the song... The way to do it, as they said in an interview, was to disassemble it, reassemble it as a pop song, and cover that version in a rock style... to give you an idea of the compositional power of these sisters. They are really unique. 🤘⚡🤘⚡🤘 Feliz cumplaeños Ale. Por muchos muchos mas!

The Warning followed Metallica instructions to turn it inside out, upside down, make it their own. With only 10 days to do it. They created a haunting lullaby. Look for the music video to see how the song was originally constructed. The harmonies are from FOUR ladies, which included Canadian singer Alessia Cara. Her background vocals can still be heard.

I am a big follower of Alessia Cara and it was through her collaboration with The Warning and Enter Sandman that introduced me to this band during Covid! I love this version so much and even with the beautiful harmonies it seems even darker to the original Enter Sandman. They didn't just sing it they remade it and did such a great job of making it their own. Metallica loved this version!

For newer, post-COVID fans, Ale is vocally more prominent on the Queen of the Murder Scene album, especially on The Sacrifice and Sinister Smiles. Neither of those have resurfaced in 2022 and 2023. But Ale has also occasionally taken lead on Red Hands Never Fade and Hunter from that album and also River's Soul from XXI Century Blood.

FIRST HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALE 19yrs.old....TODAY🎉🎊....The music video is where you can really catch the vocals/harmonies. Canadian singer Alessia Cara was ask by Metallica to do a cover and she teamed up with The Warning to do it.. Because of Covid travel restrictions miss Cara is only a projection on the wall.. It's absolutely brilliant.. The backing tracks, high vocal are Alessia mostly...I would definitely do the official music video, it is exceptional... Be good see ya..TWA🤟🎶☮️

Metallica loved it too, and it earned its place on the 30th anniversary Black List LP. Alessia Cara's contrasting vocals you hear in this with DPA's masterful writing, and their harmonizing makes this re-imagined version a legacy creation for all of them. (ps... There will be a gear rundown for all 3 of them. Ale's is already out)

I have to admit, I am not a Metallica fan, and I was sick of this song, until this version came along. A lullaby where Dany very sweetly puts you to bed, then rouses the troops, shares a little prayer, and the angel chorus comes to sing you to sleep, then Boom, the hammer drops. I think of this very much as the female version of the Sandman tale. So good. Delicate, powerful, soothing, strong, gentle, fierce-all at the same time. I love this one. Female energy, Jeremy. I never knew I needed this song in half-time. Such a great change up. Yeah, the vocals are great. They do use some backing tracks from Alessia Cara when they play this live.

I remember thinking while watching you react to 2014 Enter Sandman, and seeing that you knew every guitar lick, drum hit, etc. that you might have a bit of a hard time with the new version. If you watch the OMV, you'll see Alesia Cara, whose backing track is used for the live show. It was for the Blacklist Album, a collection of covers of the Black Album. It's a cool remake, not really a cover, but a little shocking if you're expecting an updated version of their 2014 performance.

Six artists covered Enter Sandman for the Blacklist album, and imo TW's version was the best by a good margin. KZbin views tend to bear this out. Of the six, TW has the most KZbin views at 3.3M over two years, followed by Ghost at 2.2M. Great performance, great reaction ! 🙌🔥🤘

On Spotify the Ghost version is more popular: 7+ million listens for TW and 10+ for Ghost. Weezer's version is almost at 6 million. Across the entire Blacklist there are only 4 other songs with more listens than the TW though. The most popular by far is the Miley Cyrus/Elton John/Chad Smith version of Nothing Else Matters with nearly 60 million listens.

@@JanneBernards Good to know, thanks! While I wish TW was #1 there as well, 2nd in ES and 5th album wide is pretty gratifying. Not surprised the Miley et al collab is #1 w big numbers. Overall, a great showing for TW and Alessia Cara!🙌 **Just watched these three again for a fresh look. All are good but my opinion remains that TW's is the best of the three. Factor in their reimagining of the song and their superior mv and it only solidifies their position imo.

Lars said to do something different and they did. They turned it upside down and literally backwards. The original starts with the iconic riff and they end with it here. The original ends with "take my hand" and they start with it here. Also, the building.. first verse Dany is single picking notes, 2nd verse is power chords, etc. The harmonies really set it off... and c'mon, Dany's Hetfield voice during "In your closet in your head" at 5:09 Oof! The backtrack was the voice of Alessia Cara who also sings with them on the studio track.

The music video has a lot of the nuances not seen or heard in the live performance. It is a gorgeous production that is worth watching. Since it was done during Covid with travel restrictions, TW and Alessia recorded their parts separately. Alessia was at home in Canada and TW in Monterrey, MX. Matt Squire traveled to Monterrey to produce the song. He actually took over Alessia's computer while she recorded her vocal parts to incorporate into the song. Then the demo was sent to David Bendeth, who produced TW "Error" album in 2020 during the pandemic, in New Jersey to mix the song, then it was sent to the Metallica Blacklist team. So, they arranged, recorded, mixed, and submitted their song for the Blacklist album in 10 days. The music video was shot at a closed down textile factory in Monterrey, MX and Alessia was projected onto the walls and columns of the factory. The video is in black and white. You get to clearly hear the three part ascending recitative overlayed with Dany's and Alessi's voice singing "Hush little baby don't say a word" parts. Yes, I am trying to convince you watch the video! Another thing to consider watching is the behind the scenes of recording Enter Sandman. You get to see them work laying down the song and not performing. You will see a calm, concentrated, careful Pau not destroying the drum kit. As a tech you will like that too. And yes, I am trying to convince you watch this too! 😎😁👍

One key element on the Black list remake is that Alessia Cara got the invite by Metallica. I am not sure if the Warning did or not. They share a management group who put them in touch with each other to do the collaboration. So a pop/ R&B singer match with the Warning. The result was this slowed down version of the lullaby. The four person version on the Black list album is a little different and the video was very creative. Well worth a look. As others have said they did this during Covid in just 10 days from concepts to finished product. Alessia from her home in Canada and DPA from their home in Mexico. Amazing results!

So the voice you were talking about was a backing track sung by Alessia Cara. They did the recording for the Blacklist album as a collab with Alessia. In the recording, she sings the first verse. Dany has to sing it all here because Alessia is obviously not able to tour with them. They did perform it live with her on one occasion in 2022 at the Troubadour

Metallica asked Alessia Cara (Canadian pop singer) to be on the Blacklist album. A guy who works in her camp also does work for The Warning. He said both should collaborate on this project. You should do the official music video. Where you will hear the part of Alessia Cara. The official video is more poppy at certain segments since Alessia Cara doesn't have a hard rock voice that Dany has. The live version takes out the pop. Which, in my opinion, hurts the song the way it was re-imangined. The very high wooooaahhhooo was Alessia Cara on a backing track.

One of the 3 recent pro shot version with the 10 piece string ensemble from Guadalajara, Monterrey or CDMX with a slightly different arrangement.

The ohh'ss are a backing track it's Alessia Cara who is a Canadian r&b pop singer who was originally invited by Metallica for covering any song of the black album but because she is not a rocker she didn't knew how to cover a song of them so her managment team who also works for The Warning suggested to invite them to join her for this so Metallica was ok with that and do the proper invitation to The Warning explaining how they wanted to do this song. ( Obviously The Warning took Enter sadman to close the circle they open with their first cover that went viral). Basically put it upside down as they wanted but the lyrics should remain the same. They had 10 days for re composing recording mixing mastering. The song itself show us the Alessia's pop mixed with The Warning rock Style and the Metallica metal style. The Warning said they thought to blend the styles to print each of them escence. Due to covid They worked remotely The Warning in Monterrey Mexico and Alessia in Canada the engineer flew from the US to Mexico to record the song with The Warning and by zoom he record Alessia's part. You shoul'd watch the offivial music video to see the original version, tris performance it's moré The Warning and less Alessia Cara. Cool reaction!

This song was a collab with Alessia Cara so there is a backing track of Alessia singing some of the harmonies. The official video is different with Alessia Cara singing some of the lead. This song and the official video was created during Covid so Alessia was remote. There is a also video of Alessia performing the song with the Warning in LA. I believe that is the only time they have performed it all together.

There is a backing track of Alessia Cara, singing the whoa in the background. They did the song together.

I'm with Jeremy here. I love their version as a ballad, but I was a little off at the beginning (you know when you touch these kind of monsters of rock it's normal). Now I think it's the best gift they could do to Metallica, even if the original is still something else (and it was ground-breaking and mind-blowing when it came out).

I know many fans love this version, but for me the OMV is much more 'disruptive' and unique. This version is necessarily a compromise because Alessia Cara cannot be there with them. They had to make some decisions for this arrangement, and so they decided to keep Alessia's Woah Wo's on backing track (as well as those pop trap beats that I can't stand). This is a great experience for the crowd no doubt, and I do think it was the best that could be done with the limitations they faced. Most people focus on their tremdous song writing skills, but they also possess incredible arrangement abilities. Their talent level is off the chart in so many catagories - amazing.

The Warning did what Metallica wanted the artists to do for the Blacklist album. “We said, ‘Pick a song. Do what you want with it. If you want to play it backwards or turn it on its head, we respect and appreciate it.’ ” -Lars Ulrich They did a fantastic job. Love the original but love this version as well.

A lot of people think ES was what brought them the most fans. Fans deep into the girls know it was Ted-x 2017 that helped them gain the most fans. It is only about 20 minutes, 3 songs plus speeches. If you do it do it all at once. Their you tube channel has it as well as about 5 others. Add them all up and there are a lot of views.

Listen carefully to the riff at the end -- even there, they did it differently from Metallica. In particular, the drum pattern is different; Pau follows the first part of the riff with the kick drum supporting the melodic line, and in the second and fourth iterations she supported the line with her toms. My personal favorite part is the "hush little baby" section. It's a relatively minor part of the original, but they made it into a powerful buildup leading perfectly into the final "take my hand" section followed by the riff.

The harmony when Pau is on a higher octave than Dany is so great .. Apparently they put this version together in less than 8 days to meet the deadline for the album. At least that's what I've read in comments. That's pretty amazing all by itself if true.

The actual recorded version and OMV is worth a listen. It's interesting to hear the version Metallica's fans heard as it's the opening track on the Blacklist album. This live performance is a lot heavier than that version, and it's worth it just to hear Pau's take on the prayer section, which is a close second for me, after Ale's take back in 2014. Ale's version is iconic really.

What do you do when you already killed a cover as kids? You do exactly what Metallica asked. You completely tear it apart and then remake it. They had a week to crush this and they recreated it as a The Warning song. The live harmonies are absolutely brilliant. Ale has an ability to sound very much like Dany and I think that's why she's doing the lower harmonies. Recently they played two new songs live and Ale has two backing vocal moments that really stand out in SICK and HYCAD. I can't wait for those to be released officially but you get to hear just how BEAUTIFUL Ale's voice is. Oh, Happy Birthday Ale! 19 years old today! Great reaction!

The music video will explain a lot of your questions. Also, there are fan videos of their 2023 CDMX 10th anniversary concert with string instruments included. Everybody is hoping there will be videos coming out of that like the 2022 concert. That's because Black Holes and Breathe were right before Enter Sandman. P.S. Resolution for 2024: no more Pau crying.
