Hi I’m josslene wilder, Keith’s granddaughter. I watch this all the time and it was great to see what he was like when he sung at a young age. Thank you for posting this although I am young I still love heatwaves music and this is my favorite song they have to this day💗💗

Your grandfather and his band made a lot of people happy then and still do to this day with their wonderful music. I was 11 years old in 1978 when this song came out and remember the first time I heard it and where i was. Great songs are a time machine and this one always takes me back to my youth and first love. May you be blessed as your grandfather was and how many millions he blessed with their timeless songs like this! All the best to you, young lady

Johnnie's accident was tragic, but the remainder of his life was NOT A TRAGEDY. He wouldn't allow it to be. He never lost that beautiful voice; he continued to sing, write and record - including for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ; he taught and guided young people; he produced music in the studio for other people; he never lost that megawatt smile and positive outlook; and he encouraged others that they too could make it after a similar setback, including Teddy Pendergrass who turned to Johnnie at his lowest moment - and they became good friends. Johnnie lived an additional 27 years after his injury and was a BLESSING to many. He literally ran his race and WON!

Main man (Johnnie Wilder Jr) sang the vinyl completely off this song. Perfect in every way...perfect tone, perfect pitch, perfect delivery. Just absolutely kilt it. At this stage he had fully matured as a artist into the song. He went all natural and raw on this song; no frills, no glitter, no processed hair...just pure talent and sang the hell out of it. Love, Love, Love this performance. Two thumbs up.

Rod Temperton was the keyboardist and main songwriter for Heatwave, writing songs including "Star of a Story", "Always and Forever", "Boogie Nights", and "The Groove Line". After he was recruited by record producer Quincy Jones, he wrote several successful singles for Michael Jackson, including "Thriller", "Off the Wall", and "Rock with You". He also wrote songs for George Benson, including "Give Me the Night" and "Love X Love", along with Patti Austin and James Ingram's United States number-one single "Baby, Come to Me", among many others. Temperton wrote the soundtrack for the 1986 film Running Scared and won a Grammy Award in 1990 for his work on Birdland, from Quincy Jones's album Back on the Block.

This is amazing. I was on a drive with my daughter and she played this song on our stereo, but it was Luther Vandross. I said, “Hold on. That’s not the original. When we stop I’ll find it for you.” I now have it on my app. And then I found this. What a wonderful band, with such a talented lead singer. This video is a pleasurable break in a weary world.

Man, I saw Heatwave back in high school around 1978-79 and they were great! Btw, their keyboard player, Rod Temperton is the the one that wrote this song, "Always and Forever" "The Groove Line" and others for Heatwave. Also, he wrote "Off the Wall" "Rock with You" and other songs for Michael Jackson.

Beautiful song. Master of Song writing Rod Temperton jolted down these lyrics. But Johnnie wilder made it come to life with his voice. Amazing singer he was with A Great smile that could put you at ease. And he remained that way even after his Life Altering experience in life. God Rest his soul. Along with his Brother Keith Wilder. and Rod temperton .❤

It's such a treat to see Rod Temperton in performance! Heatwave was such an awesome band with Johnnie Wilder's smooth and delicious vocals and the great international lineup. Mr Temperton did a Brian Wilson - stopped playing live. He still wrote for Heatwave, and also some of the biggest hits for Michael Jackson, George Benson, Brothers Johnson and many others. Rod became one of the most prolific and successful British composers in history, 2nd only to Lennon/MacCartney. RIP Rod, the " Invisible Man"
