Companies know: if you're in China, then nothing else matters. And if you're not in China, then nothing else matters.
Elon Musk of Tesla canceled a trip to India and a meeting with India's Prime Minister, and instead traveled to China to meet with Chinese Premier Li.
Tesla was approved to partner with Baidu, the giant search and mapping company, to deploy the world's most advanced driver-assistance software and mapping on Tesla's vehicles.
Tesla's stock raced higher on the news. Analysts believe that Tesla is signaling a change in strategy, away from plans to build new plants in India and Mexico, and going all-in on production from China. This is the same path shared by other carmakers, who are struggling to sell vehicles in China, but hope their Chinese factories will keep them competitive in global markets through exports.

India welcomes Musk’s money going into India with open arms, hugs and kisses and of course with flower rings stacking all over his neck until blocking his eyesight. If Tesla does make money in India, Musk also knows Indian government will change its laws to “protect” Tesla’s money from leaving India. Eventually, the beneficiary name of Tesla’s money would have to change from Musk to India. Of course the mega factory would have to sell it to Tata for 1/100 of the cost.

This was a little bit surprising, as Tesla has been trying to work a deal with India for years, but Musk needs China far more than he needs India. India, despite the large population, has almost no high end consumer market for his vehicles, and lacks the industrial capability to produce his vehicles like in China.

Musk tried, and so did Tim Cook. The results were far from favorable. At least for now, the total package from Chinese manufacturers in services, parts, raw materials, and level of skilled workers are simply unbeatable. China also has excellent infrastructure, sea ports, and a massive consumer middle class. The Americans wouldn't be there if they could get a better or comparable deal elsewhere.

Musk is not stupid. The world is not stupid. When the rubber meets the road, China is where you need to be. Irrespective of all the hypes and noise from India, it’s in a different league altogether. What India needs to do is seek cooperation with China so it can grow and develop to the max. India's leadership needs to chill and stop all the hostile and hysteric rhetorics towards China. tbh i was thinking this about 20 yrs back!!! but it was slightly different, when Japanese electronics ruled and DVD players etc were coming out..... and it was a well known fact that the Japanese themselves were coming over to HK to bulk purchase their own electronics which blew my mind!!!! But still you needed an outlay to buy i dont know 10 or 20 brand new portable DVD players and then find people who wanted brand new japanese or HK spec region locked portable DVD players..... i mean its still a viable thing, you can easily set up a business if you wish selling Aliexpress items.... i found in the UK someone, a martial arts shop selling the OG Feiyue sneakers which are all the rage right now..... the OG Feiyue sneakers cost about 4 yuan!!!!! im not even joking and theyre comfy as hell! But theyre not as polished or nice looking or packaged or marketed etc! the shaolin monks and everyone in kungfu in china all wear these!!!! free runners in the west and barefoot runners are all talking about these but again its a trend and maybe abit of a bubble which might burst as im hearing theyre looking at other sneakers now... but i personally love these low tech / retro style sneakers

@@chriscain7333 i wouldnt say its completely not viable..... Theyre all the same thing but under their own inhouse branding! ALL made in China..... you can still undercut these companies! i dont know if youre into retro gaming handhelds but this another market that i can see is hot right now! BUT everyone seems to be doing it now anyway and its been going on now for like 20 odd yrs but now sort of hitting mainstream but yeah Aliexpress for bulk purchasing of items...... AND you cant guarantee quality unless you actually do the leg work and connect up, thats where im seeing people are now realising what aliexpress's positives and advantage over amazon is.... aliexpress is like the doorway to Chinas manufacturing and contacts

It's the basic difference between the US, where high-tech supremacy in military production, is the focus of the governement and China, where high-tech supremacy in civilian production is the focus of the government. There is a lot more bright minds working for civilian production than bright minds working for military production. So the flow of new ideas from the military minds to the civilian minds will always be lower and costlier than the flow of new ideas from the civilian minds to the military minds. If that is what you think, you don't know America American technology or manufacturing. America makes superior military equipment because of the R&D that is invested in technology and the sciences, and the partnerships between public funded research and private enterprise. Rarely does the US government dictate specifications today... It does happen but for fewer and fewer projects. Today, US military equipment is mostly driven by the manufacturers offering products with features and then those projects are funded. This is probably all backwards from how China probably does procurement, I'm guessing that the government is telling the manufacturers what the government wants.

What exactly did Li promise? I ask because I'm not clear. Sure there is some tie in with Baidu but if Tesla cannot export the Chinese market driving DATA then it's pointless. Is that what Li agreed to? Somehow I doubt it. What the Chinese are fantastic at is leverage. They gave Tesla unbelievable loans and land deals in order to secure the Shanghai factory. The small detail that seemed to pass a lot of people by (myself included until recently) was the requirement for Tesla to use 95% Chinese made parts by 2022. Essentially they lured Tesla in order to supercharge their own efforts to build a credible supply chain. It worked. 2 years later Musk himself went public saying that no-one could compete against Chinese evs without tariffs. I think that Tesla will end up being pinched at both the high end and the low end of the market and then squeezed out of the middle. Put simply, they can't get new models to market quickly enough. Model 3 and Y are already ageing and can't offer what others do in terms of driver luxury, particularly in China. So, although priced as luxury cars they are not offering that. And they definitely won't be able to compete in cheaper end of the market simply because they won't be able to get new models out quickly enough, whatever Elon says. Which leaves the Model 3 and Y trying to slug it out in the congested mid-market, where they are over-priced and under equipped.

To set up charging stations will take times as india is not yet have enough electricity to go around yet. Well Elon came to china for a day and he got another 40 or 50 billions dollars as his shares are up by 15%. Modi is trying to offer Elon a good deal that he can't refuse but lack of infrustructures and supply chains components are night mare for Telsa. But it will happen soon. good luck, Telsa will not be the top EV cars in china for Very long , just like Apple, Sumsang etc.. china innovations are fastern than our mind thinking these day.

Tesla isn't the first self-driving system in China. There's already Huawei's on Xpeng and some others like Japanese and Germany. FSD have already on US's Tesla but yea, it's not very popular. People don't feel safe about it, on top of the very high price, thought its price drop like Tesla's shares prices. US don't allow Robodrive, it's a real national security issue that I agree with.

Tesla was months away from bankruptcy back in 2019. By offering Musk favourable terms for building his giga factory in Shanghai, China saved Tesla. In return Tesla, helped inspire and shape the creation of the Chinese EV industry.

As a product inventor and new business owner who is bringing a product to market but trying to run things from the US, it's difficult. The wait time is terrible, two weeks just to receive samples for one round of testing. It really is imperative that you either exist in China or have people there to represent you and save time. Unfortunately, I'm not that big yet lol.

India is but a secondary market for Tesla cars and a very small market at that considering how long Tesla will have to wait for the mass to have the spare money to buy expensive Tesla cars for their own use. China on the other hand has already been the biggest market for Tesla cars and Elon Musk knows that it is where he can innovate, learn and test new tech to compete effectively with Chinese EV's. There is no comparison between China and India, at least for the next 10 to 20 years.

It’s all about integrity but Engdia has never bit into a piece of humble pie yet because Engdia is still not completely sovereign but still thinks like an Anglo-Saxon with Asian DNA. The mindset is not quite there yet for Engdia. Hopefully, that will change someday but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
