I had this year in our fleet the same sleds (my doo was an expert turbo) and I would agree with just about everything you said. Love the polaris chassis (minus the rough ride on moguls like you said), don't like the bottom end throttle response on the polaris. But the biggest thing I didn't like from the boost was the fuel mileage. I burned way more fuel on the polaris. I can't even make it a full normal day in the backcountry unlike the doo even though it has a smaller fuel tank. Love the motor on the doo and the shot. I too have a 9R coming (but in a 146) and a expert turbo. Thanks for sharing

I’ll be intrigued to see how the new gen 5 platform doo competes with Polaris’s ability to hold an edge on steep side hills with them making their sleds in the expert package more narrow, no flex edge, no t motion. If I could afford a new sled at this point, I’d be snowchecking one. And then probably waiting 2 years for it to arrive because can am has been shitting the bed on this.

I ride a 19 summit 850. Jumped on my friend’s 850 matryx the last time we found some decent open areas and was very, very impressed with it. It’s a fricken beast and is more controllable than the other polarises I’ve tried in past years. The only thing I can’t figure out, aside from having less of a “sweet spot” for holding an edge(due to lack of a flex edge and t motion, both of which I’ve gotten to a skill level where I hate them) is the steering geometry. It makes me feel like I just jumped on a sled for the first time, heh.

I know the Polaris has a bigger fuel tank but do you find it goes further then the doo? It always seems like the Polaris riders in our group run out of fuel first.
@markstimson9832 жыл бұрын
One critical comparison missed. Durability. Though, you did blow your doo engine this year. Both sleds are amazing in my opinion as I have no brand loyalty. I got the summit expert 175 turbo this year and I did snow check the Polaris Matrix Slash Khaos 155 boost for next year- until the Lynx Shredder RE 155 came with the Turbo R, lighter and narrower Gen 5 chassis, and three headlights up front so I changed to the Lynx. Important consideration is BRP durability and build. Heck, the Poo’s had a stop sale order this year because they had to change out all the Patriot engines due to a major problem. My friend worked as an engineer for Polaris during the Liberty 900 days and he reports that there is a resonance frequency problem around the 5800 rpm range that still exists in the engine. For guys like me who keep their sleds this has been a huge difference as my buddies who helped get me into sledding are Poo fanboys. Their sleds are constantly in need of all kinds of repairs and they readily admit that this is a problem. But to them, it’s worth it as they get new sleds every other year and keep their machines in warranty. I’d be curious to hear your experience with durability.
