Good morning. Having a chronic illness has taught me to pace myself. So that means alot of plans get pushed to the next day. Take care and good luck with your traps. It's nice to see Cindy up and atter again. I am glad she's healthy! The times you video about jams, jellies as well as the truck repair videos I find just as good as the trapping and hunting videos. Have a great day

The rules are kind of complicated! Some are just plain silly, like checking traps that you snapped shut. You know they are empty because you snapped them.....
Good morning Gary, I know the feeling. We just don't get enough time to trap. Other things always get in the way. Tomorrow is the last day of hunting season here. I'm a little reluctant to put sets in certain spots till after hunting season is over. Even though I trap on my own ranch and no one else should be out there. There is always a few that sneak out on the land, and if they are willing to do that, they would be willing to mess with sets too. Have a good day my friend.

Exactly! I'm 100% on public land. Hunting seasons worry me, and then until Christmas, there are people getting Christmas trees. Most of them have dogs. I don't want to ruin a kid's happy memories of cutting a Christmas tree with their family by catching their dog in a trap. I put up signs, but they don't read them. Anyway, I hope you have a great day!

Good Morning! Good luck hunting! Hunting license, and tags are getting high priced. Add in gas, and really we would be better off buying from the store......but what fun is that? Some stuff, like duck hunting, was enjoyable, but It got to be too much money. I don't like the way they taste, so I gave them to friends and family. I haven't done that since the 1980's.

@MuskratOutdoors28 күн бұрын
For residents, only $11.50 each. Nonresident tags I think are about $30 each? It's not bad, but you need one for each wolf before you catch it. It's hard to know if you need a bunch, or none at all. Kind of a gamble really.

Sorry if my question sounds like from another universe. Actually it´s not that far, but I´m a hunter from middle Europe. So, here it comes: May I know what´s the reason for hunting wolves? Am just curious.
@MuskratOutdoors24 күн бұрын
There's several reasons, money is one, but even more so it's to control the population of them. We didn't have really any here until 1995, and they were re-introduced. The anti-hunters/anti-trappers sued to block management of the wolves for right about 15 years. In that time, they overpopulated and pretty much destroyed the deer and elk herds. Moose were almost completely gone. Starting about 2012, we were allowed to start trapping them to control the numbers. Because of that, I think the wolf numbers are about where they should be finally, and the deer and elk are starting to come back a little. We still don't have anywhere as many as before, and hunting here is terrible, but it's slowly getting better. I don't hate wolves, in fact I really like them, but there needs to be a balance.
@Ouwkackemann24 күн бұрын
@@MuskratOutdoors Thanks a lot for giving such a detailed answer. The exact same thing is happening here right now. The wolves are invading from Eastern Europe since approx. a decade now. In areas where they are busy, the wildlife animals disappear, deers above all. Herds of sheep and goats, sometimes even singular horses, have big losses. The government supports fences, which do nothing. Many herd owners gave up, but the gov. doesn´t care. The numbers of wolves highly vary between animal welfarist organisations (lower numbers) and others. "Don't ever trust statistics that you haven't falsified yourself." The politics in this subject are made by people, which watch wolf films in their living-rooms, on the 12th floor of a skyscrapers in big cities. The country people which suffer under this politics are not heard. That´s a common thing, that people which are not affected decide over those who are. There were reasons why the wolf was exterminated, and those reasons are still there, they haven´t changed. It´s the same thing with the lynxes, which are now re-introduced over here. We have a much higher population density than you have in the U.S., and there is simply not enough space for humans and such strong predators. There will be interactions between wolves and humans over here, and that will be the tipping point, when the public opinion will fag. History will be repeated. Einstein once said: "I only know two things which are eternal, the universe and human stupidity. But with the first one I´m yet not already sure." Thanks for your insights. We over here will have to re-learn to hunt with wolf-traps. Just as a return present for you a little peace of history. Have you ever heard of a Wolfsangel (wolf-hinge)? That´s what they hunted wolves with in middle-age Europe. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfsangel#Jagdger%C3%A4t That were iron chains with hooks, on which meat pieces were attached. Those Wolfsangeln were hanging from trees with the hooks/meat pieces so high, that the wolves had to jump up to get them. So they got stuck and were litteraly hanging from the trees when catched. They were forbidden at the end of the 19th century. Best wishes from "the old continent", god bless.

@@numbskullskills Actually, wolves don't seem to be that hard to catch, except that they are so widespread. They pass through a spot every 2-3 weeks, and if you miss them, it's a long wait for them to come back.
@numbskullskills28 күн бұрын
@@MuskratOutdoors how often would you put reapply scent
@MuskratOutdoors27 күн бұрын
@@numbskullskills It depends on the weather. In cold weather, scent doesn't carry very well, so I add more every other trip or so. Rain, too. Some folks don't add it as often and seem to do just fine though.
