Nice to see you have started ! I am always interested in your wolf sets. We do not have wolves around here, and not big enough population of martin or fisher for a season.We are allowed to keep one accidentally caught fisher. After that they are turned into DNR. Mostly bobcats, coyotes, beavers, otters, minks and muskrats on the Southwest end of Nova Scotia. All the best to you and Cindy. Have a great day!
@MuskratOutdoorsКүн бұрын
Thanks! We have marten, but few if any fisher. I've never heard of a fisher being caught here, but Norther Idaho has quite a few. No season on them though. The wolf sets are pretty much just big coyote sets. Everything is bigger, traps and spacing. It's hard for me to remember to set the trap back farther....it seems "wrong" but they are a lot bigger than coyotes! Thank you and good luck to you too!

Good morning Gary, and best of luck with your wolf sets. I was very happy to see those wolf tracks as I'm sure you were. Pretty hard to catch a wolf when there's none around . As long as there's tracks, you have a chance. It takes quite a bit of time making good sets. Add a fee more each time. I put out 3 Coyote snares yesterday. Slowly I will get them out. Have a good day my friend.

Too bad F&G wouldn't turn loose of some road killfor bait. Not sure bout the law on that. Cant resell "trophy" parts, not sure bout reusin' carcasses fer bait. Beautiful days! Clear blue skies, and almost too cold to play. Eye surgery tomorrow. Wish I could say this one ain't got me a mite skeered. Stay Frosty, Bud!
@AlexT-k7pКүн бұрын
Good morning Darrel. I hear ya with the upcoming eye surgery. If you have time to reply, is it scheduled for AM or PM? For what it might be worth to you, I believe in prayer and will be reminding God to look after you and have the best outcome, as, I'm sure, many of us in this little community will be doing the same. A great bunch o' good people hang out here. Bless you my brother and I look forward to a good report.
@MuskratOutdoorsКүн бұрын
Thanks! We can use road kill now, and inedible parts of game birds or mammals. Until a few years ago, that was out. I'll have to watch for a road killed deer or two. Yeah......ya got an extra eyeball, but you kinda want to keep both of them! Good Luck with the surgery. That is scary, but they have gotten so good at it, it's almost as safe as trimming your toenails........just don't use a chainsaw!

Your off to the races. That wolf could be a scout. I sure hope you bag a few. The coyotes here coywolves & can be pretty big. The govt. got a $50 bounty on them this year which is double what it was in previous years. They are taking a lot of woodland caribou. That and the sale of the fur makes them worth going at. Best of luck.
@MuskratOutdoors15 сағат бұрын
Thanks! I've heard of the Coywolves, but never seen a real good picture of them. Fur-Fish-Game will have one in it now and then. Trapping for a bounty in 2024! Who would ever have thought we would be doing that? Our program here isn't a true bounty, but its similar. We are "Reimbursed" for expenses, so to get paid, we need to have recites. Good Luck to you, get a bunch!

The coyote problem is bad around me most all the game birds are gone used to hear grose drumming all the time and I have only seen five pheasants my whole life but they are slowly coming back we could stand to have a few more people hunt and trap for coyotes in my part of Michigan and no it's not just the coyotes that have are birds so low some of it comes from over hunting
@MuskratOutdoorsКүн бұрын
I used to think the tracks I was seeing were coyotes, but on my trail cameras, I don't hardly ever get them. I get a LOT of fox though, some are really big. Not living in Michigan, I can't say for sure, but the lack of game birds sounds more like raccoons to me? They find nests and eat the eggs. It sure could be coyotes though.
