We know exactly how she feels. We’re Christian but lived in Saudi Arabia for 10 years. My Nigerian wife conformed to local custom and always wore a hijab, abaya and veil in public. My daughters attended school starting around age 8 with other Saudi children, they learned Arabic and are fluent in it, when teens they started wearing hijabs and abaya. Having been immersed in that culture from a young age until adulthood they still wear hijabs in public and my wife does too, especially when we are with our Muslim friends in public. My daughters attended university in Europe and because they are fluent in Arabic and raised in that culture, they tended to gravitate toward Arab-speaking Muslims students for friends and socialisation and they dressed with hijabs and abaya. When they confided in close friends that they were actually African Christians raised in the kingdom, most didn’t believe them., especially as they speak with heavy accents. They travelled extensively all over Europe and experienced first-hand the discrimination Muslims experience with the added “benefit” of being Nigerian. To my non-Muslim compatriots, the discrimination is real, it’s no joke, and as society in general becomes increasingly secular and hostile to people of Faith, we are next in the crosshairs. We must stick together and support our Muslim brothers and sisters. Just like certain Europeans wore a yellow star to support the Jews being persecuted by the Nazis, it would be wonderful if Christian women donned a hijab to support their Muslim sisters. Let every woman show up at that restaurant wearing a hijab!

What if a French converts to islam ( who are MANY) can’t he/she have a life in their country? If no, fine, but stop claiming to be supporters of freedom.
