I’m not saying they are not kind people because it is very obvious that they are but I’m saying people who are strong in their faith will tell you that faith has a big part in their lives and the actions they take. I see what you mean when you say some people say their faith says to reject lgbt and things like that (assuming you’re talking about Christianity, etc) but as a member of that faith it actually doesn’t say that. We as Christians are to accept everyone and judge no one as our leader Jesus did. I am mainly speaking on my own religion because I don’t want to get the others wrong but I can speak on the few things I know about. That is the hatred in peoples hearts using faith as a cover up for their actions when the religious text they follow never said to show hate. The different in this is their religion teaches forgiveness. The people who use Christianity to act on hate is different because that religion doesn’t teach to hate. I’m not saying that every religion is kind or what not but in this situation I do not believe the original commenters comment should be discredited because they were emphasizing the irony in the situation which is that the women showed hatred to them bc of their religion but their religion and their strong faith played a big part in why they choose to forgive. Forgiveness can be granted and still have consequences for your actions. Example: You may cheat on your wife and the other woman becomes pregnant because of your actions. Your wife may forgive you and God may forgive you, but a child is born and will require your support and care. That is the consequence of your wrong actions, and you will have to live with those consequences. Forgiveness does not equal no consequences.

You can still forgive someone while at the same time letting them still face the consequences of their actions. Forgiveness simply means that you do not hold bitterness or resentment towards the person. You can forgive someone and still make sure they are held accountable for their actions, in hopes that they will learn to reform their actions and for the sake of other people they might affect in the future.

Please, the people who are saying that the couple should’ve not forgave her, stop. It’s in our religion, and we will follow our religion. We we’re told to always forgive even if we had to a million times. Even if people don’t change, we have the right to forgive them. Please just let us follow what we believe in, let us be. We are muslims and we follow the path of our prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as we we’re told to.
