Thank you, always! I’m a morbidly obese female in my early 50s. I started healthier eating based on the advice in your videos and feel so much better after just one week! Only drawback - my digestive system feels like it’s having a tough time adjusting to this new high fiber diet. I’ve increased my water intake, but whoa, my tummy makes sounds I’ve never heard. 😅

When I went with a plant based diet, I about quadrupled my fiber intake overnight. And I was probably averaging at least 25 -30 grams of fiber already, before I even started. As a result, for the next month or two, I wasn't very good company. Spent a lot of time alone or leaving the room if other people were there. 😷 I couldn't understand why my digestive system was being so insanely volatile (to put it politely). Not until later did I come to understand what a dramatic change tripling fiber would be on the digestive system. Eventually, my system calmed down and was no longer struggling with the very high fiber I was feeding it.

Great video. There are a few issues that are confusing. You mentioned the 5:1 ratio of carbohydrate to fiber, but then switch it in the discussion of fiber to carbohydrate. It's difficult to find these breads and local bakeries don't list ingredients and many of their employees can't answer the question. It would be helpful to have some bread suggestions. Also, there is always more carb to fiber. I'm not sure I've seen a 5:1 fiber to carb bread, but the other ratio is possible. I think this needs clarification. So if you list carb to fiber the ratio should be below 5 we are looking for. The best the web lists is Dave's, Ezekiel, Mestemacher, and Base Culture. Arise also sells a sorghum bread.

Yes, she made a small speaking error by reversing the ratio, that's all. Fwiw, I love Dave's Killer Bread with 21 Whole Grains and Seeds. Maybe you'll like it too if you can find it.

@@aginsfbayarea7350 Making a video like this is difficult and that's why I started my message with mentioning the positive. The comments I make are in an attempt to be constructive and not personalized. f you actually go to look for the appropriate bread you will realize it's difficult to find a bread with a 5:1 ratio of carb to fiber or better. There is no bread I am aware of that is in a 5:1 fiber to carb ratio. Unfortunately, Dave's does not cut it. Total carb is 22 g and fiber is 4 g with 4 g of sugar. That is a 5.5 ratio. That's not going to work for many people and doesn't comply with the video suggestions.

Thanks. I have never seen individual hummus packs in my Costco but will look for it -- great idea. I like sandwiches from a large, broiled portobello, red onion (also broiled), greens and tomatoes on hand. Bread smeared with homemade or store bought hummus. A delicious mouthful!

Gastric cancer from pickled vegetables??? I did not know this! Awww, but I love kimchi! I don't eat it often, but I currently have a giant jar of it in the fridge. I like it in my grilled cheese sammies, my vegetable ramen soups, eating it by itself. 😟Thank you for the info. Now I'm sad. lol

Kimchi is fermented not pickled. Fermented veg is very healthy. I wouldnt worry about gastric cancer from pickled food. Never heard of it and im sure your not earing them all day every day
@TheWatchinator
@TheWatchinator 3 күн бұрын
@@joshuakeegwell2896 It's still considered a pickled vegetable since it's preserved in an acidic, salty brine even though the acid comes from its own fermentation as opposed to added vinegar in typical pickled vegetables. I dug up a research article about this gastric cancer thing and read that "Koreans have the highest reported incidence of this deadly disease" and kimchi was included in the pickled foods group, but it also mentioned that "besides an H. Pylori infection [a unique gastric organism often responsible for the development of chronic gastritis]...diets HIGH in smoked foods, salted fish and meats, and pickled foods" are risk factors. So maybe it's a combination of too many of these foods exacerbating the H. Pylori infection and not really kimchi alone that's responsible.🤔 I'm not Korean but I have been eating kimchi a bit more these days. I'll just be mindful about the risk and cut back some. 🤤🍜

By juicing your nit getting the whole fruit or veg. I belueve you preach to eat whole foods. So the juice breaks down into more sugar without the fibrious flesh. I make apple cider and thought it was healthy. But without the whole apple peel and its fibre. Its more sugary. Is this correct?

Yes. The whole food is better. But some people can’t eat enough of the whole food, like my kids, so fresh juice of leafy greens (kales) and beets is their supplement. I usually add it to blended berrries. Otherwise kale juice doesn’t taste so good.
