That yellow warning light is your alerter. If you don’t use any controls for more than 30 seconds that light comes on and if you still don’t use any controls or hit the alert button it will throw your train in emergency.

yip.. irl, especially in the english trains, there is something called a 'Dead Man Peddle' and the driver keeps his/her leg on it, and when it rings the bell, he/she is supposed to left the leg, and put it back down, and if he doesn't do it, the train, (obviously) applies emergency brakes.

@@gurukn us trains also used tohave it, but British trains equivalent is dsd which means every 90 seconds with you must lift your foot off the pedal, they also have aws which means if you pass a signal that isnt clear it will beep and you have to press a button

It doesn’t dump the train it puts it into suppression. To clear the penalty brake you put the automatic in suppression

The yellow alerter light has nothing to do with the engine working too hard; it's just a timed alarm that checks if you're awake if you haven't touched the throttle or brake. Respond with the Q key and leave the throttle in 8!

The alerter was the light and beeping sound you were hearing and is to make sure the engineer is awake or alive, it will continue to come on after a preset time if no controls are touched, so by moving the throttle you reset the alerter. There are certain controls that will not reset the alerter, these are the sand and lights.

Wheel slip on this game is shown by red zigzag lines around the speedometer. The little yellow light is the alerter. And just need to hit the alerter button.

9:50 as a professional railroader, this is the one aspect that TSW gets right: traincrew that hate life. Also, Jeff, if you haven't, give Trainz a go. It blows the realism aspect out of the water compared to TSW. I'd also recommend Run8 V2, but that's a whole nother level of realism.

I 100% agree with you that Dove Tail needs to either set up trains fully in scenarios or let you start them from the train equivalent of "quick turn" or "cold and dark" states. Having a train that's partially set up is rather irritating. Either way, enjoyed the video, Jeff. I'll probably pick this DLC up once it hits a sale and be sure to install the patch straight away.

I did run train simulators many times and the beeping that you just hear is the Alerter the Cab alerters are to make sure the engineer stays awake...err... alert. On older units, the alerter was a box that will flash and beep at you whenever your independant (locomotive) brakes are released. The intervals they go off are between 30 and 120 seconds usually. Because every time you run any locomotives including ES44s Dash9s SD70s SD40s and Geeps you will able to hear the alerter it helps to keep the locomotive engineers awake every day they hear that

Number lights are only required for the lead loco so when you roll by each other you can read the number and relay all clear or a problem.

Number plates are only on for the leader. Headlights only on the head engine unless your light power, or the rear engine.

You was fine in throttle 8. The alarm was the alerter. Thats all the device warnings do.

Yup. It's every 60/65 seconds, though. All @Jeff Favignano needs to do hit the yellow reset button labeled "ALERTER" to reset it. The button is right below the sander on the SD40-2, and in Train Sim World 2 the hotkey for it is "Q".

you can tell this SD40-2 is just copied from the CSX one, UP's don't have flashing ditch lights. A few UP engines that are former Southern Pacific units have flashing ditch lights but they are very very few and far between

Great Job!! The warning you are getting is probably the alerter (Dead man). Is there an alerter reset button? If so, try that without changing throttle. If not, power down until the the warning goes away then throttle back up.
