Thank you for so much detail! It’s VERY hard to find artists who give this level of detail. So glad I found you!

FYI the tub sharpener has 2 measuring holes for different applications. You don't need to use both to sharpen your tip. One is for sharp (drawing) the other is for blunt (writing).

They’re literally called blending stumps. I use them for blending all the time. Use a light touch. Also the pencil sharpener is for two different sharpnesses. They’re not a one ,two step.

I use 2H and 2B. For areas were want things really dark I will use a Mitsubishi Uni dark pencil, like a 4B-8B. If i want a nice shaded area I will use a woodless graphite pencil.

I agree. The kneaded eraser is very useful. I usually get more than one because graphite accumulates on the eraser and turns it very dark. I feel that this reduces its effectiveness. I like a clean eraser!
@tannersteedart Жыл бұрын
I think there's a way to clean it! I saw a short once. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

Nice video ! The lead pointer looks great ! A good thing to remember : B is black (darker) ! Do you only have 1 Staedler pencil or several with different graphite thickness or you change graphite while working ?

Thank you so much for explaining the correct way to use a lead pointer. They don't come with instructions (or I lost them) and I've been using them incorrectly for years.

The 1st hole on the lead pointer is for sharpening to a blunter point. But I get why you would use that side first seeing that you're using a harder grade lead. Personally I can draw with anything harder than HB.

Hi Tanner. With graphite works is it always necessary to use a fixative? Thanks for this vid by the way.
@tannersteedart Жыл бұрын
The graphite can smudge or fall off the paper over time, so I choose to use fixative just in case.

"the one that comes with the Staedtler lead holder" This is inaccurate. The lead pointer that "comes with" the lead holder is actually the thing on the back of the lead holder. It has a hole on it, that's a sharpener. The lead pointer you displayed is a separate purchase around 10 dollars.
@tannersteedart2 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, yes it is. The sharpener is definitely worth the investment!

"Best Supplies list": Best Wooden Pencils: Faber Castell Aquarelle, Pitt Graphite Matte,9000 Best Mechanical: Pentel Graphgear 500 0.5mm/0.3mm (with Ain Stein leads) Best Lead Holder for Drawing: Faber Castell TK9400/TK4600, Koh-I-Noor 5347 Best Lead Holder for Sketching: Koh-I-Noor 5340 (They also make the best Red Chalk, that the call "Russet Sepia" in it's 5.6mm form) Best Paper: Fabriano Artistico Extra White (still has a warm tone) The best paper for dry mediums. Arches Hot Pressed for those who want an easier to work paper, that it also great for either dry or wet mediums. Best Erasers: Lyra Kneadable (by far the best kneadable) Tombow Mono Plastic, Tombow Mono Zero (2.3mm) Best Stump: Conte A Paris (If it says made in Taiwan, is also great) PS: It's the amount of work and time you put into the medium, that will provide better art, then paper is the 2nd most important and finally the supplies I mentioned.

Why do people call graphite in pencils lead
@tannersteedart2 жыл бұрын
“pencil lead” is due to an historic association with the stylus made of lead in ancient Roman times.
