If my husband and I had waited for his parents' approval we would have had to wait 12 years. ☺ I'm glad we included them in our ceremony and they participated, although tearfully. It took until our firstborn was 9 before my father in law verbally gave his blessing of our marriage, haha!!

It is good to have older wise Christian people for guidance. Or good Christian premarital counselors. Not everybody has wise Christian parents. But there are always elders, mentors . Especially for such a crucial step as marriage .

question 3 is a Christian European marriage. I remember one telling the pastor "Oh, THIS [the religious ceremony] is my true wedding" to which he answered "no, this is only the blessing, you guys are already married"

I love my parents, but they've kept us waiting for 2 years now. My parents are VERY controlling.... They want things to go their way at all times, otherwise they won't support it. I've told them that their blessing is what I hope for before moving ahead, but they take it as an opportunity to hold me down some more and maintain that control. I'm 27 years old, I first told them I wanted to get married at age 25.... Yes, I know there are those who took longer before things worked out for them. But I'm thinking it's impossible. My Mom has turned everyone in my church against me because I left nursing school (which she wanted) and went to Seminary. Now I can't even ask anyone for how to go about this dilemma, because I have been isolated. In Nigeria, even if the parent is wrong, they're right, and that leads to a lot of pride in the parent, as they feel they hold the lives of their children in their hands. Recently I needed my parents help to pay for some of my seminary cost, they completely shut me out.... Should I still be waiting for their approval? I live on my own, but I don't have a job. When I get one, and can take care of my intended spouse, should I still be waiting?

My mom disapproved of my relationship because my boyfriend was 'fat, black and poor'. Since she was wrong I do not believe I needed to wait for her approval. My husband and I ended up eloping.

Our parents tried to split us up multiple times. We knew we were meant to marry and soon, but out of selfishnesa our families sought to split us up even my father kicked me out of his house to his moms a long ways away. All this even during the engagement period, and they act as though they should have recieved a wedding invite.

While I understand the uniting of families in a marraige, if they seek to divide your household, it is them who has turned it into a point of division. I would not recommend inviting people who are against your union to your wedding. It is a moment of celebration that can quickly be robbed it's joy by family praying for it's downfall as it's just beginning.

its from 6 years ago and yet still relevant.. My parents are against my relationship with my current partner; mostly because there is another person that they want me to be with (they know the family, similar work / business & better social reputation of that family).. I'm confused of what to do since they kept pushing me to know the other person, despite me not wanting that.. Help..

Paul in Corinthians tells the men that if they themselves do not desire marriage, to keep their betrothed as their betrothed. In a culture where arranged marriages were the norm, this would obviously mean that in some cases these men would be going against what their parents wanted them to do. The implication is that we are under no obligation to date or marry whenever our parents want us to but can make that decision in accordance with the will of God. I know it’s late but I hope this helps, may God bless you and give you wisdom.

Hello I am from South Korea and my mother has disapproved of my husband and me getting married for 5 years because I converted (my family is Catholic) and my fiance is a pastor in Presbyterian church... we ended up planning a wedding next month.. my father is afraid of my mom getting so angry and he refused to give invitation cards to his friends.. I am so devastated but still I am sure that God wants us getting married but it is so hard....

The government does not require a man and woman to become legally married. So does that verse really apply?

He used the Romans 13:1 to say we should get legally married. I was responding to that statement. Thank you for pointing that out in the video though. That part was good. I wish the government would get out of the marriage business all together and don't believe Christians have any obligation to get a paper from the government saying they are married.
@bean74964 жыл бұрын
@@sfaoldguy I dont believe we are required to get legally married. Being married is not made by the government, but bound by God. If you are bound by God there is no need for a marriage certificate

Remember that marriage according to The HOLY BIBLE occurs at the moment of sex. Pastors do blasphemy by saying by The Power invested in me by the great state of (whatever state). No where in The HOLY BIBLE was the power to marry ever given to any priest, prophet or human ever. It’s written, “What GOD puts together, let not man separate.” So GOD and man are specified in this verse and it’s clear that GOD is the one who puts together. The same paperwork puts two men together and gives the judge power over your marriage and many countries don’t have legal documents. 1,500 years of Christians never having paperwork when they married. Then the Catholic Church invented the marriage certificate but not to marry you but to recognize who was married (boyfriend, girlfriend and wedlock are not in The HOLY BIBLE, all relationships that were not adulterous were called marriages, thousands of marriages in The HOLY BIBLE with no priest, no paperwork, that consummated at sex). Then a couple hundred years later a license was created in the United States to help police arrest interracial couples as anything you do without a license was criminal, but today it’s not criminal to do anything with anyone of age with their consent though you don’t have a license. License by the nature of the document make no sense in marriage anymore. Christians should definitely listen to their parents and not seek to wait on their blessing or permission as that’s idolatry, but take their advice or prophecy then obey their FATHER in HEAVEN and honor their MOTHER, The Church and marry whom and when CHRIST instructed them to through HIS HOLY SPIRIT regardless of what earthly parents think or say and make it clear that you love honor and respect them but obey CHRIST. Samson’s parents didn’t agree with his marriage however it was written that it was GOD’s will and decision to fulfill HIS will.
