I feel like this is a series that sneakily became a new favourite. I read the first 4 in the first half of last year and I feel like each time I put one down I was always laughing (or freaking out... book 3's ending) but with this almost shocked feeling of "I don't even know what just happened". But leading up to book 5 and now finished I just have the most warm and nostalgic feeling and how uniquely she's put together such familiar elements in a way that feels so fresh and new

I am having a hard time continuing this one. Does the writing quality improve?

It’s really book 1 that’s the slog. I got to chapter 14. And just turned it off.

This became my favourite series, I have read it through 3 times I love it. My only grievance is that as the books went on and a readership grew Jen seemed to get more comfortable adding pointless sex scenes. At the start of the series the sex usually served a purpose, towards the end it felt silly and pointless. I know the Author is very pro LGBTQ which is great, however the fact there are next to no straight characters by the end, with such a large cast also felt very in your face, which makes me worry about her future stories, diversity is great and needed but don’t go so overboard it feels silly, it takes away from her amazing writing.

I started the series a few months ago unfortunately I didn't enjoy the fourth book I'm still deciding if I want to read the final book 🤔

I know so many people who strongly dislike this series 😂 To the point where if it weren’t for you loving it and the publisher sending me earcs I would not have given it a try

I feel like people get turned off by the first book bc it really throws you into the deep end. But I think more would love it if they just let go of the need to understand everything and go with the flow into the next book

I think that the humor and following same characters but different perspectives is similar to the Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner. But yes - there really is nothing like it.
