Usually when you get a cut cob as that one - its known as a "bit" A bit could by you a tankard of mead - always a cool find - ive gotten a few out of farm fields

With all the real old stuff you've pulled out of there already, your first silver of the year was begging to be Capped or earlier, but silver is silver. Congrats for at least getting on the board for '24! The buckles were just unreal, as was the cut silver. Quite the rush with your sailboat, but a cool find regardless. Nice work men!

The cast brass piece at 6:15 looks a lot like the pan from a leg hold trap. It would need a notch to release the trigger which I could not see.

Damn! I would hit every inch of that field! I’m in between Boston and Plymouth Ma. It’s hard to find farm fields here. Went to one the other day and got 6 shiny. Capped bust dime from 1830 was the best. Starting to think farms are the way to go for digging old stuff

But when you're detecting a mystery field and you find an Iron Patch, is that where the remnants of an old homestead that was tore down was put, and does that mean when detecting an iron patch, should one be inside it or just around it?
