At 65 I can relate to this guy. There are many of us that are products of the 1960s and 70s that intend to surf, ride, ski, and fly into the sunset.

Absolutely beautiful! I'm 50 now and have been surfing since 1983. I grew up in Newport Beach and moved to Texas two years ago and miss the ocean so much. I got to spend a month in Hawaii back in January and it was so nice to surf almost every day. If you're by the ocean drink it up! What a blessing!!

@@prontoworld5963 I got caught up with working in LA in entertainment and barely surfed anymore. Southern California became so overcrowded and expensive it wasn't really possible to live there anymore. However, I didn't realize how much I'd miss the ocean.

Hello Bob, So glad to see you still hitting it. I am giving you a shout out and postings on my Facebook page from Mike Crews ,Hot Wax Surf Shop Emerald Isle NC. I’m still hitting it to at a younger 66. But am usually the oldest in the water here at Bogue Pier and the point. You ,I and Steve Walden toured the east coast for GSI in 2007 to promote your world wide distribution of McTavish surf boards. It was a pleasure for me to meet you a truly great surf legend. I enjoyed the trip. Your current line up looks great. I still have my 8 Ball and you can’t miss a wave on that board. Cheers, Mike

Bobs autobiography "Stoked" is one of the best, funniest books I have read. He is a natural no nonsense writer as well as dynamo surfer. After reading his book I wrote a song called " Stoked The ballad of Bob Mc Tavish" ( by pete knowles) ..... he said he liked it, but Bob is very polite! GO BOB!

If I could have a gift from the mother spirit my choice would be to live bobs life. I'm sitting in the backpackers inn 100mtrs from the take off. I logged it unaware this morning and surfed with fizz. I posted about the murder of my aboriginal partner last night unaware in the camp at the take off. Ian moss took my hand and guided me home. I camp to heal, My intention is to record a blues triple. Bilingual bush noises. Bobs grace his fizz, his unaware ability to underwrite our fathers values careers and hip directions. So much. Thankyou Mr Bob. Kind regards Nathan....

Aloha, I will be 70 years old in July. I am ashamed to say how many boards I own, which range from 6’2” to 9’2”. Two of the boards are: 6’8” Sumo by McTavish and 9’2” Surftec McTavish. I live on the North Shore of Kauai, Hanalei Bay. The destination was arrived at by not a straight line from Allentown, PA, Santa Barbara, CA, Cal, Berkeley CA, San Francisco, CA, The North Shore. My point: it is not where you surf; it is not what (board) you surf; It “is” how you surf? The old adage is true: The best surfer in the water is the surfer having the most fun. I surf with pre-teens: competitive, challenging, and humbling, and Surfers older and more skillful than me: competitive, challenging and humbling. Surfing a McTavish 6’8” or 9’2” seems to make it a little easier to have fun. Aloha. dennis hanna
