Hi Jeff! I am doing this same job currently. I drove over to my NPD warehouse Sunday, and purchased the new brake support for auto trans now and manual brake pedal. It had a power brake pedal for 4 speed on a converted to C-6. Ratio completely wrong. No wonder the car don't want to stop!! Will now have ratio of 6-1 with new manual master cylinder with a 15/16 bore, new pushrod from Leed brakes. Best price on the internet from NPD. Support was like $66 plus $10 for hardware, $8 for new brake switch, bushings etc. M/C bleeder kit was around $8 also. Thanks for introducing me to NPD, Love that place! Thanks for leaving this video up, got me through the process. Cheers from Motown/Dearborn.

Mach dog blue Great video! I put power brakes on my 67 4 spd ,had to pull clutch pedal out of pedal bracket to remove manual brake pedal and install power brake pedal. I had to remove pedal bracket assembly out of dash, to install new clutch assist spring and bushings in pedal bracket,your video was a big help and put me in the right direction, I had to pull steering wheel and column ,dash cluster (no working around all that stuff) and it came right out. THANKS

I did this on my '67 6 cylinder coupe way back in 1983. I even ordered the new support from my local Mercury dealer! The mount bushing on the clutch pedal side was pushed toward the firewall, causing the pedals to be at an angle, which would make the clutch pedal stick down, as it would stick to the steering column! I can tell you why that spring is missing, it was a thick beast that took me with my limited skills and tools (at the time) days to get back on. I was able to remove the mount without removing the wheel, column, or instrument panel. Doing that would have made the job easier. Probably would have made the job easier, though. No KZbin back in "83 to help me out!

I have a 66 C code and the column did not have the C clip, however only the wide end of the column came off. The shaft did not pull off like in the video.

In episode 157 it showed the pedal support still mounted to the firewall with the spring off, the pedals were then removed. I see how a new spring would be installed out of the vehicle, but was wondering how it was removed while still under the dash. Thanks

+Randy Knowlton With all the other return springs off the car, remove two of the three bolts that hold the spring mounting bracket. Leave the bolt closest to the firewall and passenger side installed but loosen it. This will release some of the tension and the bracket will pivot to the the firewall. Keep in mind that you'll need to remove the assembly to reinstall the spring.

is it possible to make a 1970 ford mustang automatic transmission with an inline 6 cylinder 4.1 250 into a manual drive transmission by simply buying a different brake pedal support with one that has the brake pedal and clutch pedal support mount ?
@shakes5258 жыл бұрын
Have you guys done a video on just doing the clutch itself? I'm in the middle of replacing the clutch on my '66GT (have the transmission completely out, bell housing and clutch are still in place) and I plan on taking care of some of things pointed out in this vid like installing the pedal bushing kit etc, but it would be really great to see a full clutch vid!

I have a 66 mustang - the brake and clutch pedal has shifted towards the gas pedal. What is the fix?
@AutoRestoMod2 жыл бұрын
The mount is probably worn. The kit we used is a good way to fix that.

it was so much fun on my 66 that i had to buy a 65 so i could do it again oh boy

Been there and done that, it makes such a difference to "renew" those worn parts. Are you guys doing the roller bushing conversion too? Guess I will stay tuned, good stuff guys.

Hey guys! Got a real problem I’m dealing with ! I’m trying to undo the Z Bar on my 64 galaxie and it’s kickin my butt! Not sure how to get it out, please help!!!!😱
@AutoRestoMod5 жыл бұрын
If it is typical Ford, it will have two bolts that mount part of it to the frame rail. You take those bolts out and it should separate and come out in a big chunk.

OK. Just wanted to make sure. We will probably do a one wire conversion in the future. BUT failing that, www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/mump-0704-classic-ford-mustang-single-wire-alternator-install/

Love your videos - in next weeks video when you put it back together any chance you can also talk about how it goes back together when it's an automatic?
@AutoRestoMod10 жыл бұрын
We'll try. The concept is basically the same. Less complex because there are less things to hang down.
@rickmay499110 жыл бұрын
AutoRestoMod Thanks for the reply. The reason I suggested it is that I'm converting my 66 from stick to automatic. So, the assembly will not be the reverse of taking it apart. Not a big deal as it's probably easy to figure out from the drawings. I just thought others might be in the same situation and benefit as I would from your experience.
@AutoRestoMod10 жыл бұрын
Rick May We go over mounting the assembly in the car and such. With a the brake pedal only you might have to source a rod to replace the clutch pedal.

That is Cameron he is an awesome high school senior that started off as a viewer and has been coming in to help Jeff work on the cars on shop days and he also runs camera; he is a HUGE help (yeah, go ahead and run with the pun). We'll be sad to see him go in June; he is headed for the Diesel Mechanics School in Tennessee.
