Check and see if the factory has nannies installed in the computer to keep you from powershifting. Ford had them on the 11 and up Coyote 6-Speed manuals. Disabling the factory nanny gained 3 tenths and a few MPH. Computer was closing throttle body and pulling timing when you tried to powershift.

Super legit... Goodness I'm a Mustang guy but I couldn't tell you how many times a day I say " Shit that's a beautiful Camaro/Corvette or Challenger/Charger." I really don't think there is a bad choice in American muscle right now. We are down to splitting hairs on the track and they are all faster than most of know how or should drive! When your in a world where you are arguing fast and it's an 11.8 vs 11.6 stock, it's a great world to be in! The only thing I dislike on any of the forums etc are the fanboys that say "ohhh my Hellcat/ZL1 or GT500 whoops your Scatpack/SS or GT's ass.... " no shit lol! That's like hearing a guy in a Scatpack say how he whooped that Honda Accords ass! Congrats....Apples to oranges.

Lensync7 I couldn't agree with you any more. Ive always hated when people get their panties soo much in a bunch when they see a "lesser" model then theirs running a fast time. I have a procharged civic as well (but the single slammer) and I would get soo much flame for spending so much money on a "slow car". I would have to hear all of the "why didn't you get an Si, o my Si would smoke that shit" comments. And I always try to remind people why we buy our rides. Not everyone wants the faster model. Even beforr progressed, I got/still get 600-620miles with the 13.2gallon tank the car gas and still run a 13.2@107mph. That isn't bad at all. Anyways I also have a zl1 and I know how it feels to have those baby dick mofos scrutinizing you for not having the top model. I show love to all. Even 4banger maro/stang guys. Anything can be made fast. We all can't drive the top models, but we all don't want to. People just want to justify their worth and will look down on others if their ride isn't as fast or equipped. So I feel you on that Fam I really do

This is great comment section. Been a Ford guy since birth with dad owning an 89 LX convertible mustang (4 cylinder) red with black top. Was the most beautiful car I've ever seen when I was 9 years old. I had an 88 LX and 86 GT since. And so many other cars too but Now a 17 Focus ST but next car definitely a Mustang. Point is, if I told you I didn't love a Challenger or Camaro I'd be a damn liar. Hell I've owned a 2000 Grand Prix GT I was in love with. Can't we just all get along? Lol

In terms of performance , you won't go wrong with any one. Personally I love to build my car and I own a SRT392 for that reason, because I would love my choice of blown engine. But today I'm here to say that whether its a Camaro, Mustang or Mopar, they are equally capable of beating each other on track. Not always the one with higher horsepower is strongest, but the witty one wins the race with a proper driver mod. Mods are not always to add power but also to shred unwanted baggage from the car. And some mods might not add power but might affect quarter miles. Nice videos, definitely a lot to take from it. Thanks for the share.

But for now I need a truck for towing my work trailer and so on. But my f150 has the same 5.0 as a mustang with just slight changes to add low end power for towing, etc. and dang it sounds delicious. Good power too, i could only imagine how powerful it will feel in a 2000 lb lighter vehichle. And thanks to the Shelby gt350 and camaro zl1 and dodge demon, America's muscle cars are putting better track and drag numbers on the board than basically anything else in the world right now. Bravo America!!!

Benton Kranz they have different cams in that truck 5.0 from the factory. I wanna say it's just either intake or exhaust. Not both.

For the most part, it's the same engine. Just different cams to gear the engine for more low end power. But if I already think it's the best sounding v8 I've seen in person, and the mustang has that engine but better exhaust, then that sounds really awesome to me. But good point.

I've been a Mustang man since 1987. However all American muscle car enthusiast respect any and all American true musclecars including the Camaros and the Dodge lineup. It is exciting indeed to see The Return of the horsepower battle right out of the factory which is amazing. Just to think my first Mustang GT came out of the factory with 225 horsepower LOL and now you can take them off the dealer lot with more than double that, wow. Thanks for posting this video and keeping it real. So many people because they are in such competition with one car or another totally block anything truthful because when they put their heads on the pillow at night they have to win LOL but I'm just amazed to see how these cars have evolved over the years and so happy that they are making them so nice now. These are truly real sports cars now and technically speaking you don't have to add anything to them which is remarkable. Once again thanks for the video and you have an awesome looking car.

Both were manual cars, but even then it looks like a 1SS with the M6 is neck and neck with a PP 5.0 given that it’s lighter than a 1LE which helps for straight line acceleration, probably even with the PP around the turns also.

They compared stick cars but in stick car varrient the camaro kills the manual 5.0 because the camaro makes way better torque and around the track the camaro was 3 seconds faster

The 1le has far better tires. Look at the tire size on both cars front to back. Way more grip. Besides that there really isn't much difference in set up from weight, HP, tq, besides chassis tuning. And I can't remember if in that comparison if the Mustang had magneride suspension. Doesn't the 1le come with it?

The first race out of the gate in late May was the Ford Motorsport Nationals, the third stop on the NMRA tour and Tobener instantly set the quickest time for a S550-based Mustang. It wasn’t the kind of big deal that some would make it out to be since Tobener had all sorts of little teething problems as it was the car’s first time on the drag strip. Two more events went by, the NMCA competition at Beech Bend Raceway and the NMRA stop in Ohio, and Tobener made adjustments to the chassis and going quicker each time. In just the fourth outing and less than 30 runs on the new car, Tobener eclipsed the 7-second barrier with his 2015 Mustang GT. He ran 7.991 at 171.45 mph during the final round of qualifying for Edelbrock Xtreme Street during the NMRA race in Indianapolis.

Honestly, I wish I could own all of them! But for now, I'm happy with my 2010 SS.

go back and watch some vintage racing from late 60s and early 70s. we built our cars like crazy and had a hard time getting to the numbers we get off the lot now. I LOVE it. Chev all the way, sorry rest of you guys, just the way it is.

Another factor to consider though when trying to compare the times posted in 2016 by a stock Camaro is that GM may have improved the tune a little on the 2018. So it may be a little quicker then the previous model even though it is still a 6th gen.

As of now, no runs with 18s have been faster.

That was good man. Like you, I love all Muscle. I also love the factory turbo imports (I own a 2006 WRX). Muscle and awd's are very different. I am a Mustang guy at heart and will own a gt500 one day. Aside from all that, keep making the all inclusive Muscle videos. I think the Camaro Z/28 a few years back was awesome, and the ZL1's are fantastic.

Both are great cars. I work for a GM dealer and I still chose the new 5.0 just because I feel like the interior is better quality and I got a great deal on mine.. kona blue.. digital dash.. pp1 401a car.. leather/heated/cooled seats heated wheel, premium sound system, blue stitching etc. And the fact that you can spin these motors to 7500 stock blows my mind. Both are beautiful cars I guess its just preference

I still remember the dark days in the 90s when getting the Mustang's 1/4 miles below 14 was pretty damn good and took a few mods. Now they're in the 11s off the showroom floor. Unfortunately they cost twice as much..

epa316 look at it this way, everything cost more now than it did in the 90's!!!

I got a stock mustang gt and I ran a stockish 2017 ss. The only reason I went with the Gt was the stock motor holds way more power than a ss. Both are fast cars tho

Unfortunately a lot of GT owners believe that. A lot of them pop if you hit lap the car.

Just don't go on a road course. The 46K Camaro SS 1LE was 3.5 seconds faster than the 49K Mustang GT Performance Pack. That's absolute destruction.

All the new muscle cars and sport sedans, etc.. handle so well and have so much power they exceed at least 90% of the US population's ability to drive by far.

We haven’t seen many built 18s, but I saw a raptor with 900rwhp. I have seen ZL1s with 1100rwhp.
