Since this is an edited clip of the case, judge Judy may have corrected the plaintiff, but the poster of the video may have edited that out. I'm just saying because I think that's what I should say but I don't know. I want to say that that's what I should say.

The young man should still be responsible. Maybe not to go get the car at the tow company, but money that was owed for the damages he caused. Just pure negligence.

She did hold him responsible for the damages: she rendered the cat as totaled and paid the full value of the car. If repairs cost more than the car is valued you only get the value

@mikellestreet4056 Damages meaning when the accident occurred due to reckless driving, towing fees, etc. Only one person was left out in the rain here, and that was the plaintiff. 2 hundred somethings dollars ain't nothing. Talk about responsibility. Huh.. 🤦🏽‍♀️ Also, I put maybe not to go GET the car because that was an added argument from the judge to the plaintiff. Lol

They never called the tow yard [even if it was couple days later] and just decided to sue. Makes me think they were hustling to get money because they knew the car is not worth even the least possible tow +storage fees

They knew it wouldn't be worth the money, time and effort, especially with the car being totaled. They just tried to get the whole car paid for by suing instead. They definitely went about it the wrong way.

A case of tweedle dee, tweedle dum. This Dum Dum plaintiff gave the defendant some kind of ridiculous joy ride for him just thinking of buying the vehicle. No down payment, nothing. Luckily they got anything out of the case

Plaintiff is not all there. You never allow a test drive customer crash the car that is not his, tow the wrecked car to their home, without money changing hands and the title signed over. LOL!

Oh, this is just foolish. You do not loan a car to someone who is potentially buying the car. If the person is going to take it for a test drive, they can't do it unless you (the owner) are in the vehicle with them. I disagree with the judge about the one plaintiff who is the only grown up in the room, given that what he did was foolish as well.

A 2001 mustang, case is in 2018. 17 year old mustang, 2001 model...yeah, I can see it blue booking at a few hundred low end. Not like it is a 60's model. most mustangs in this century have low resale values unless they are special editions

⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠Byrd had to have screwed that up, because a 2001 Mustang is a nice car. To only be worth $239 is crazy! If it’s true…then it had to have been the cheapest model possible, no extra features, beat to hell, with well over 200,000+ miles on it…I REALLY can’t believe it was only worth $239! lol

they were suing for impound tickets, but jj is not giving them impound tickets. because it isn't his car, he can't legally take it out of the impound. only the car owner can.

The car got totaled and towed due mainly to the defendant actions, he has more tickets so that tells me he is very irresponsible. I wouldn't give them all the towing fees but at least 90% since his clearly at fault for the accident etc.

I don’t understand why the dad wouldn’t call the tow company or go with the defendant to take the car out since he claimed he would pay for the damages. But to just leave it there racking up fees and then sue the kid. Negligence on both sides

It’s because he isn’t legally able to get the vehicle out of tow yard, and the fees accrue daily. The plaintiff had a duty to mitigate the costs by getting it out quickly versus letting it sit there and letting the bill continue to mount.
