The HDA2 driver assistance in my IONIQ 5 is the best system I've used. It always stays in its lane, it lets me let go of the steering wheel for surprising long periods of time, it just works. Not sure why it didn't for you.

I bought this vehicle in May and absolutely LOVE IT. My wife named it "Walt." I agree, it does appear more silver than gold. I absolutely love the Disney "welcome" and "exit" screens. It puts a smile on my face every time I enter and exit the car! Only 1000 of these vehicles were produced.

We have road tripped the heck out of our 2022 Limited, doing three round trips from Seattle to the East coast. It’s a great road tripper. I’m kind of surprised that Liv doesn’t feel like the seat doesn’t tilt forward enough. Mine feels like you could tilt it steep enough to slide off. If you grab the big flat adjuster and twist it, you can make the whole seat twist front up or down in the front. Maybe you did that, and it just wasn’t enough. We came to the Ioniq 5 by accident. It was early days, and we had a Mach E on order for almost a year, Ford just kept pushing out the delivery. We finally got frustrated and bought our Ioniq 5 off a local dealers lot. About 2 weeks later we did our first road trip, Seattle to Key West. We love the car.

I think Patrick figured it out in the video. The seat is a bit long for me so it presses into my prosthesis. If I could tilt it down more, then the length wouldn't matter as much. The seat definitely has a ton of nice customization options and I tried em all! - Liv

I drive a 2023 Ioniq 5 Ltd AWD (which I love) and found your evaluation to be more useful to viewers than most of the "professional" KZbinrs videos. My HDA works 100% on interstates (upstate NY) but can't handle steep curves on country roads. One downside of the long wheelbase is that it increases the turning radius so you have to adjust to it when "slot" parking. Otherwise, the car is amazing. I recorded my miles/kWh for a full year (the car has 3 odometers) and averaged 3.2 miles including 5 months of winter driving with snow tires. The Mach-E is one of the few cars (along with the Rivian R2) I will consider when my lease is up in 2026.

I always enjoy your videos. Are you sure it's allowed to have that much fun, btw? Anyway. We've had our '24 Ioniq 5 SEL RWD since early April. We've done one trip from FL up to OH, on to IA, and back to FL. It was a real treat. Super comfortable and quiet. One thing that shocked us after doing lots of road trips in our Bolt EUV is that we can't go to the bathroom fast enough for the Ioniq 5. That sucker charges FAST! It stays over 100 kW well past 80%. Even the EA 150 kW chargers were plenty fast at 175 kW. Most of our stops were EA, but we also did some Chargepoint stops when EA wasn't spaced right for us. Other than meal stops, our charging stops were all between 11 and 20 minutes even including the CP chargers. Driving 1,144 miles from home near Tampa to Ohio, we only spent 1:44 charging, but that didn't count an overnight L2 charge midway. I totally agree on the driver assistance. That really needs some fine tuning. It wanders on curves. It only gives you about 20 seconds of hands free. Keeping a hand on the wheel isn't enough; you have to fight the wheel every 20 seconds so it knows you're there. They need to make it capacitive. So I only use the driver assist for short periods like when I need to adjust some settings, or open a snack package, or something like that. Other than the wonky driver assist, it's almost a perfect road tripper. Great range in the RWD model, good efficiency, outstanding charging curve, and more than adequate NVH. I can't wait to hit the road again!! 😁

Ah… YES! I'd been waiting for this one. Heh. I never knew Micky was such a devil. 😂 I would've labeled the one special ambient lighting color… "Tinker Bell." Pro tip: I used my "lounge chair" seat more often than I thought I would -whenever my wife is… shopping. 😴 When it comes to the ADA system, as I've mentioned before, I LOVE that it assists ME as the driver, rather than expecting the driver to assist IT. That's the key to using it: it's not as capable as BlueCruise, but a very good system. The heads up display is a great feature, but… you have to use NON-polarized sunglasses to see it. And I really like the digital rear view mirror. You get completely used to it in just a short while. I'm glad that Liv was able to use the pedals okay cross-legged. I thought maybe she'd extend her right leg to the side with such a flat, open floor space, but that's probably not what she's used to. Did you use i-Pedal? That's one of my only complaints: I wish I could set i-Pedal, and not have to reset it the next time I started the car. I always use it, and always drive in ECO Mode, by the way. I might be wrong, but I think the switch to change songs imitates the lists in one's phone: you scroll up to go the previous song, and down to go to the next song… don't you? I've found that the 150kW charging is still very fast. Yes, you start at a lower rate, but by the time you hit 80%, the rate is still twice as fast (~100kW) as I used to see in my previous Tesla (~50kW). I'm so glad you finally got to experience my EV!

You guys are having too much fun! I don't mind the rear view camera in my Bolt EUV but my wife hates it. I also love the vented seats. I am not sure how I got from a place 20 years ago when I was excited about keyless entry and power windows and now where I don't think I could live without vented/heated seats and heated steering wheel. The Ioniq 5 is sort of my dream car but it is a little out of my price range. My brother is currently shopping for an I5 because he liked my Bolt so much when I visited him and now he wants an EV. The problem is that it seems like they are the only EV right now that is not being offered at discounted prices.

You bring up a good point about the Tesla supercharger access for this vehicle versus the Ford Mach-E. But realize that Tesla superchargers are only 500 V max, that means these EGMP vehicles as well as the Taycan and Lucid Which are 700 to 900 V rely on alternative technology to deal with low voltage. This generally limits charging speeds to 150 kW. so what I’m saying is this car will not charge for a while at a Tesla supercharger even when it does have access. It would be great if you take a vehicle to a magic dock location if you have one in your area when you do reviews.

I wish we had a magic dock in our area! - Liv
@jamesrea3292 ай бұрын
The nearest magic dock to Oceanside is Scotts Valley, which is close to 400 miles away. I took my GV60 there in June and it charged at 97kw, which is what I expected - the limit is based on the 400v to 800v converter in the car (Hyundai uses the rear motor to do the conversion). However, it did hold that up to 84% SOC, then slowly dropped to about 60kw at 90% (I wouldn't normally charge that high but I was curious to see what the curve looked like). The GV60 is also an EGMP car so it should be exactly the same at charging as the Ionic 5.

I'm 6'4 265lbs and have a 24' Limited. I find the seats to be very comfortable. Had quite the opposite experience when sitting in the 25' Ioniq N. The bolstering is very narrow and as a result, the seat was uncomfortable for me. My shoulders are just too broad. I agree with the digital mirror comment. You can flip a level on the back to turn it into a regular mirror. I do use the digital one when my rear window gets dirty since the 24' doesn't have a rear wiper.

Took me a week to get the seat adjusted on my I5 Limited, the controls for tilting the seat are so touchy, I don't think it can put the front down as far as she would want but you can get it to tilt the back up fairly high. On my iPad it looks silver, but when I saw this car at the LA Auto Show last year it definitely looked gold. I wonder if they changed the color? I don't know why they would do that because the gold looked amazing. I agree that the graphics on the screens looks a bit dated, kind of "Windows"-ish. I have a GV60 with basically the same system, but they reskinned it to look modern. Hopefully Hyundai will do the same soon. Liv - if you drove this for a longer trip you'd probably use the cruise control a lot. Sometimes I even use it on local streets. That might make it easier for your unusual crossover driving, since you wouldn't need to use your legs at all most of the time. The GV60 has the same heads up display and I love it. Mine also occasionally tells me to "Drive Carefully" - I haven't figured out any pattern or reason for when it tells me that. Are you guys going to be at EVFest in Irvine this weekend? If so, see you there!

I'm just wondering. Could you have the native navigation running at the same time as android auto navigation? This is a good way to see which one is more reasonable on directions. Full voice on. Kim java wants the navigation to take her to the drive through lane. I will share something between KZbin channels to help the channel to think about if they should try it. The car manufactors should put in on the charging, when the speed drops below a certain point. Should say, please switch to a slower charger because your current speed of charging is now slower up to 100%.
